    I heared these two dudes on Fanning last evening talking of the Lebowskifest in Edinburgh this weekend.

    Wonder if anyone is going?

    The dudes did a great job of explaining its appeal. I have only seen this movie once and was underwhelmed but will give it another go this weekend (apparently the trick is not too worry too much about the plot).

    The Big Lebowski is the funniest film of the 90s IMO. Just watched it again the other day and it is clear the plot is just an elaborate joke, and an excuse for randomness.

    Haven't heard of the fest, but I can imagine thousands of Dude look-alikes.

    Easily one of the funniest films I've ever seen, there's very little not to like about it.

    As for the Lebowskifest, I heard it's one big bowling/music/Dude fest!

    Apparently not everyone goes dressed up as The Dude: some people take a line from the movie and then dress up as that ("World of Pain" was one example).

    I'm always willing to give a film a second chance: the first time I saw Dune I was well confused, now its one of my top 5 movies. Some movies get better the more you watch them, this appears to be one.

    Well, I have my beer, my munchies and my Lebowski DVD. Wish me luck, dudes!

    I concur! I used to play in a band with a guitarist who was very much like the dude in both appearance and manner. It was pretty much a no brainer when it came to a nickname for him. That festival sounds like it would be good craic.
