Problem.........

Ok folks, Ive been playing golf for a couple of months now and am starting to (finally) see some improvement. Ive got a decent drive and thanks to some experience playing pitch n putt my short game is ok. The real problem is with the irons; 5, 6 & 7 ( I have a rescue club instead of the long irons which i can hit ok). 80% of my shorts with these irons refuse to get airborne. The ball travels a distance but with no height with the result that it runs on forever!! Ive heard of beginers hitting "fat" shots where the club strikes the ground before the ball but this isnt my problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I have some lessons booked with a pro for next week but am due to play on Sunday and intend heading to the driving range tomorrow to see if I can "iron" out my problem:D
    Any advice appreciated

not to be bad, there's no simple one tip that will enable you to hit 5 irons properly. People who have problems hitting long irons generally have problems with ball striking. The best tip for a beginner is to work on the fundamentals, grip, stance, posture, make sure there's not too many moving parts in your swing, ie no loose elbows, your head stays relatively still etc.

Can't give you too much more adive than that, you've done the right thing going to a pro, he'll see any flaws straight away. Good luck.

Sounds like a grip problem to me but i agree that a good pro should be well able to spot the problem.
