On me way to vancouver for a year or two. I have a 1 yr working visa for Canadia. Goin down to Seattle for a weekend while I'm there. What's the story with entering the US? Need any documentation?

Obviously your passport, but I would bring proof of your Candian visa(this is normally put in your passport), and if you have a return ticket proff of that too. I was there a few years ago, didn't go to America but mates drove down for a quick stay, they didn't have any problems at all. So I wouldn't worry bout it. This is pre 9-11 though, but I doubt you will have any problems.

I went from Seattle to Vancouver and back - not a bother. Apart from the fact that the Canadians were much more receptive and friendly than the snarly American border guards.

I had a US visa (and was driving a US registered car), but as long as you have your passport, you should be fine.

Friends and relatives who live in Vancouver tell me that the US Border patrol can be quite hostile, but all you need is your machine readable passport and details of where you plan to stay (with a zip code).

If you're flying down to Seattle from Vancouver you clear customs and immigration at the airport.

There's a small fee to be paid (around $10 per person) for which you'll need US dollars, and they'll only take US cash, no Canadian money or credit cards.

As someone said earlier, make sure you definitely bring your return ticket. I got hassled a bit one time when I didn't bring it.

And don't go over your limits bringing back duty free booze or smokes into Canada. If they catch you, it'll all be confiscated.

I think they now are taking credit cards.
