I was going to buy AVG Antivirus with Firewall today when a fella in the 3V shop said that it wasn't that good anymore and to use NOD32 and Zone Alarm as firewall.

What do ppl here recommend? I use to use Norton it worked, never a problem but it slowed my pc right down so when it expired I didn't renew.

    All advise appreciated.

Dont buy AVG, Download the free version, Its just as good and has constant updates.

If its that good why do they have a version you pay for? Whats the difference?

Perhaps updates are available slightly faster. Only the professional version lets you view information about available updates.

I use Avast! and Zone Alarm. I prefer Avast! to AVG (I've used both), as it has one or two cool extras...for example when your screen saver turns on, you can set Avast! to scan your computer...

AVG Free is just an anti-virus. The Full AVG Internet Security package that you pay for contains Firewall and other products that you would find in say McAfee or Norton.

The AVG Firewall does have known issues with blocking wireless at times. For example, my girlfriend was in college, trying to use their free wireless to study but could not connect at all. After a confused phone call and much googling, it turned out that quite a few people have this issue on networks that especially aren't their home network.
