Hey, I'm looking to buy my laptop for college, and I've made a sort of rough decision. But before I buy, I'm just wondering if DCU offer laptops at heavily reduced prices (decent ones now)? Or am I best just getting a laptop on my own? Thanks!

DCU do a deal on some IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad laptops. Savings are okay but not a fan of the laptop itself. I suggest you just go and get one yourself.

There's no problems with Vista there is there?

well, there is some information (a *very* small amount) at dcu.ie/studentlaptop/ but your best bet is to contact the supplier and ask if they do any student deals, DCU specifically doesn't do deals, they just give information on the suppliers deals.

I'm still in the process of ordering my dell laptop, it's going to take 6 weeks to arrive, but it'll be worth it...

Why would there be problems with vista?

I think a flat no should nip this in the bud, there are *no* problems with Vista, the wireless or anything else remotely related in DCU. :)

Yes just like all their Commerce students HAVE to have laptops because it's critical to the course.

*shrug* seriously sounds like BS to me but as gizmo said, there is no problem with using any computer services in DCU with any operating system. (although if you do choose to go linux csd won't be able to help you very much)
