    Hey,

Just found out that the slim psp will be available in europe on 5th of september and will not be in usa untill after european launch anyway heres the info:
22 August 2007 18:21 GMT - The European pricing and launch date for the new PSP - or the PSP Slim and Lite as SCEE insist on calling it - have finally been revealed.

The handheld will be available to buy on the 5th September and will cost 169 euros, which by an up to the minute currency conversion works out as £115.

The new PSP is 33% lighter and 19% thinner than its predecessor, and is equipped with a video-out port, allowing users to view their PSP content on their home TV.

The new PSP will be available as standard in the three colours announced at E3 Piano Black, Ceramic White and Ice Silver with no word on those other three pastel shades that were mentioned at the time.

Exclusive to the Europe and for a limited time only, two limited edition PSP bundles will also be available.

Featuring a PSP in Spiderman red and black, the Spiderman bundle will come with Activision’s Spider-Man 3 and the UMD movie, Spider-Man 3.

Also available, in a fetching shade of Simpsons' yellow, the Simpsons bundle will come with Electronic Arts’ The Simpsons Game. Both limited edition bundles will be available for €199.99.

In the States the PSP 2000 costs $169.99, which works out at about £84 as a direct conversion. They have a limited edition Star Wars version - but not 'til 10th September.

My own PSP has a busted screen, nobody seems to know where I can get it fixed, so I might get one of these new ones.

I think it's grand for someone who doesn't have one, but wants to get one. But problem, I'd imagin it would be updated to the last, so no homebrew I'm afriad. But I don't care, I love my PSP the way it is. And anyway, I don't do the whole homebrew thing...

    Hey,

Just found out that the slim psp will be available in europe on 5th of september and will not be in usa untill after european launch anyway heres the info:

To be honest the current PSP's are slim enough. I wouldn't buy another one just because it is slim. The one I have which I rarely use anymore is good enough for me.

Why don't you use it Duffff-Man, I always have mine atleast 2 feet away from me at all times!

well i'd have to say it is worth buying a psp slim as we will soon have a new custom firmware it will possibly be 3.60 M33 in a few days time, so now might be the best time to buy it before sony catches on and updates the new 3.60 to a higher version.

Pre-ordered mine in Smyths today. Forgot to ask how much it costs though :o

I had a play with one today and thought it was horrible, It is MUCH lighter but it feels cheap and plasticky and poorly put together. Things like the front is now 2 seperate parts (there is a gap between sceen and body) and the back door feels like it would break very easily.

The plastic used is also very cheap looking, especally the back.

Make sure you take a proper look at one before you hand over your money.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the tv-out feature and faster loading times. These are what might encourage me to trade in my old PSP for the new "slim" model.

Anybody seen the tv-out functionality yet?

If you live close to Offaly and can get a new screen from ebay or a similar site ill do it for nothing.

For the Slim/Lite there is a custom firmware release out already. Didn't take long.

custom firmware is out now for the psp slim it is 3.60 m33 but you need a homebrew capable psp phat to put the custom firmware on to the new psp

Are ye sure PSP lite is coming out Thurs 13th?? I phoned Smyths and Gamestop and both said they wont have them this month!! If I bought one in France would it work here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Nailz

It will. Its European regioned so the UMD movies will work, but it doesn't matter were you got it for games.

Just called Smyths Galway, they'll have them on Friday, and the dude didn't seem to think pre-ordering would be neccessary

Yes it was five days they had a custom IPL made from the previous work on Pandoras Battery. Someone has posted the ways and means of how to achieve custom firmware on the Slim using only one battery on the .qj site.
