I just bought one of my kids an MP4 player but the type of earphones supplied with it seem to irritate his ears and Im looking for a pair that is suitable for this type of player. He's 14 so the quality just wouldn't have to be great.

Its a fairly small socket on the MP but Im sure you will all know what Im on about. What Im looking for is a type that would fit the socket but also cover or semi cover the ears (or even a set with the wee gadget that sits over the top of the ear). The phones that came with it are the little plug type ones that push into the ear which as I say are annoying him.

Any advice or recommendations would be most welcome

Cheers. I had a quick look at Ebay and all I seen in the first couple of pages was the type with the wee plugs for putting into ear. Im looking for something similar to a standard type earphone/headphone but with the small connector.

Any idea what size of jack (???) that would be needed or is there a specific name for it. I know the standard jack/socket is 3.5mm but these are a lot smaller.

    Is it a 2.5mm jack?
