Best Ever Movie Deaths?

Basically, I can't stand seeing legs break.

I was talking with a mate a few days ago about what are the hardest scenes in any movies to watch. I was able to narrow it down to 2:

    1. Quint's nails on the blackboard in Jaws, and
    2. The lump hammer scene in Misery.

Both of these scenes disturbed me so much, on different levels. So, my mate posed me the next question, if I had to have either the lump hammer job done on my legs or suffer the fate of Quint and
    : get devoured by a 25 footer
    which would I pick?

I picked option 2. You see, I really can't stand the idea of broken legs, and if we're all dying anyway, why not go out in a blaze of glory like Quint?

It got me thinking though, what are the best ever movie deaths? Let's try to sort them into two different categories though, good guys dying in a blaze of glory or whatnot, and villians meeting suitably nasty demizes. Also, for good guys please use spoiler tags on even the name of the movie, as we don't need to know that our hero dies!

I'll get the ball rolling with one.
    Good guy
: Dr. Strangelove. Riding a Nuke and loving it!
Good guy going out in style

    Good Guy from Terminator 2
When Arnie is lowered into the molten steel it always gets me in the throat. Especially when he gives a final thumbs up as he disappears forever. That theme tune don't help either *sniff*. Everytime I watch I always wish that when John Connor asks him to stay Ah-nuld will just say: "Okay" *sniff*

Bad Guy from Day Of The Dead
Capt. Rhodes. When he opens a door all these zombies grab him and proceed to tear him in half and dig in on his organs, brilliant!! As they're making noodles of him he finishes off with "Choke on it!! Choke on it!!!!"

I think maybe you should name the movie before putting in the spoiler!

No, because that way if gives away that a major good guy dies in the movie! In a movie like
    : Children of Men
, there aren't many contenders, are there?

For Bad Guys, I don't think anyone has ever been more conclusively annihilated than in
: The Last Boy Scout. Falls off a scaffolding and into the propellor of a chopper!

I doubt he would be in a sequel!

The spoiler tags here seem pointless to me cause your spoiled if you do and your in the dark if you don't. Maybe list a movie title then spoiler all comments for good or bad guys. That way if you've seen the film you can happily read spoilers and if not you won't know if the good or bad guy gets it in the end.

Okay, that seems entirley workable to me.

    American psycho:
Paul Allen. "Do yo like Huey Lewis and the News?"
    Classic scene.

    Indeed, great one alright.
    :

    Patrick Bateman: "Hey Paul?!"

    Paul Allen: "Yeah?"

Bateman: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" *wed thud of axe striking flesh*

"Try getting a reservation in Dorsia's now, you F*CKING B*STARD!!!"

    Mine would be;

    The Omen
    the pane of glass decapitation
Saw that one when i was a kid - stuck in my mind for many years afterwards!

    American History X
where Norton's character gets the other guy to "bite the curb" and then stamps on the back of his head *shudder*

Agreed, American Psycho is excellent. The only one I can think of is Die Hard:
Alan Rickman falling in slow-mo from the top of Nokatomi towers.

Ah, that one makes me cringe
the way your see and hear his teeth chattering off the curb

I love the heroic last stand/sacrifice; a few examples:

    LotR:
Boromir dying (eventually) after being shot by three arrows. Still took plenty of Uruk-Hai with him! :D Scene was copied by Achilles in Troy but wasn't a s god
    Gladiator:
When the wounded Maximus eventually falls
    300:
299 die. Yeah, but Leonaidas' dying spear chuck was cool
    Transformers: the Movie (1986):
"Get out of the way Hot Rod!" Need I say more?
