Don't think it will work over here lads.

It says its a TV tuner, and as we use a different frequency range to the UK, I cam see us being left behind.

Also dosen't mention any deal with 'BSKYB', just says the PVR function would be like SKY+.

I reckon it will work with the DTT trial in Dublin.

No we don't. Granted no one knows yet what standard DTT will be used in this country when officially launched but at he moment that will definately work with RTÉ One, Two, TV3 and TG4 on the DTT Trial which is available in Dublin and the North East.

I think he doesn't realise that it's a DTT/TNT tuner and he's still thinking in terms of analogue frequencies etc.

All USB tuners and Freeview boxes that I have tried in Dublin have all worked without fail.

Analogue frequencies aren't different either though. All 4 Irish channels are available on the UHF band in most of the country.

Then how come my (PC) TV card won't pick up any bleedin' channels!!
I am not doubting your info, just curious about my card.

    What kind is it?

It's a XFX Nvidia NVTV card, MPEG2 FM PAL, I can't see anything more specific on the box.

Oh, and I think I can get TV3 or something, but it is very fuzzy, actually took the card out of the PC in the end.

In Dublin they are all definately UHF. Problem with the card maybe.

OK, I will try again so, what about over cable, is that the same?

The PlayTV add-on for the PS3 is going to be All Digital, no analogue at all and in the (widely available, apparently) DVB-T format for the UK and most of Europe. I think RTE plan on going digital around 2010 or 2011 if you can hang on.

Not sure if UK digital TV will make it over here, unless maybe you're in the north or near it. IFAIK digital signals go much shorter distances than their analogue equiv. but I don't know for sure.
