    Hi all,

I've seen some really great photo collages, done with people printing out their pics and sticking them together. I wud love to give it a try but on the computer. Is there a good program out there (cheap, free or sharware) that would allow me to try it out! I onlt have the standard Kodak package and its not very good to use to do anything other than printing your pics - I suppose a symptom of making everything as simple as possible for the simple user....

    thanks

    John

Free software-wise you probably can't beat GIMP... it'll do layers with varying levels of opacity.

For an extremely basic program though try Picassa, it'll do simple collages with multiple images (with equal opacity).

I looked at Picasa and couldnt find what I was looking for. Heres an idea of what i am trying to do. Taking a group of pics of the same subject and sticking them together. i just did this in paint but it looses the quality of each pic. any ideas?

Each pic is about 1 mb in size, about 30 pics altogether. I want to retain the quality of pic to have it professionally printed on a banner, about 6 foot by 2 foot. I already just printed oput each pic on my printer in A4 size and it looks good...

You can do it in the program I have, take off the border and the drop shadow and you can tilt and turn them whichever way you want. Last on I did was a1 and you could cut each picture out it was that clear.

Wow, Autostitch is amazing, how does that bloody program even work, recognise colours in each pic, compare and join all the bits up and then blend/shade/adjust exposure in each picture. If you were to sit down in post production and try to do all this it would take ages.

    Thumbs up
