Getting ready for winter...

Normally at this time, I'd be bringing my mare back into work in anticipation of the hunting season.. Sadly cant do that this year. It looks like she'll be out for another year and at the age of 18, I'm not sure if she'll be able for another long season but maybe the occasional day out would be fine.

So are any of you getting your horses fit atm... and how do you go about it?

Heres a pic of us following the drag 18 months ago. It was her first day's hunting in 8 years so I made sure she was uberfit. And she was brilliant as always:D

Sorry to hear your horse wont be ready for the season. I am just a leisure rider and my horse has the best life he can while stabled, loads of turnout and loads of tlc couple with some riding. I enjoy watching a hunt and taking pictures at it too, must be a good time taking part in it.

If you have the right horse... My sis used to hate it (her pony didnt really enjoy it either). Whereas my mare would nearly tack herself up and load up if she got a whiff of a day out:)
I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to go out on any other horse.

I had a dream I was out hunting on my deceased horse last night :( (something I never got to do).
