Charging Batteries in the field?

    Quick Ceist

New to airsoft :o so bear with me. I have used a DC nimh/ni-cd battery charger to fast charge RC batteries in the past. You can hook it up to a gel motorcycle battery and charge away in the field. Presumably its possible to use this for AEG NIMH batteries? Do people use this kind of setup? What current would you charge at? for RC batteries I would keep the current below 2 Amps to avoid cooking them.

    Pic of setup below

I have a DBOY M4 CQBR on order from Eirsoft if I wanted to order a second battery what type of battery should I get?

the TLP pro charger i got has a 12V dc input on it, so can be charged from a car battery or some such. the highest rating for charging batteries is 2.5/3 amps i think, so 2 is a good safe point to be at...

for your m4 i think this battery will fit

Thanks, so for skirmishing do people usually have a few batteries for their AEGs?

I tend to bring 2 batteries per rifle, 1 is usually enough but better safe than sorry you know.

Really depends on what sized battery your AEG takes.

Mine takes a large, so I just bring the one.

If it took a mini, I'd more than likely take a couple.

I use a TLP charger too, for smaller batteries I usualy charge them at 1.5 amps. Large 2 or 2.5 amps seems to charge them fine wth no excessive heat buildup.

if its the dboys i have you need a crane stock type battery. from that picture i dont think that will fit. you need a battery in 2 sticks (sometimes with a central single battery) that slides into the chambers left and right of the central channel on the crane stock.

is it the one withe the crane stock? and also what would i charge a mini 8.4.1400mah at in amps if i use a TLP AC97F Charger

I have the TLP 4000c so i have auto cut-out. Does the TLP AC97F have cut-off?

Anyway i charge them at between 2.25 and 2.4 amps max. Otherwise you'll burn them out.

NOTE: let them cool for half an hour before sticking them in your AEG if possible.

cheers and no cut off.but in gunner for like €36 you can get a tlp EXpro 2 and that has cut off.oh and how do you work those chargers cas ive only ever use standerd wall chargers??

Ok how about this battery on RSOV for the DBOYs M4 CQBR?

My concern from reading other posts would be that 9.6V might be more than the DBOY could handle without upgrading the gearbox. Lets just say I'm not planning on doing that with my first AEG ;) and I'd like to avoid shredded gears

So am I right in thinking you guys usually tend to get a full days skirmishing off a standard battery? Mind you if you have a backup or several AEGs to choose from its not really an issue.

I'm already looking at maybe a Steyr AUG or even the DBOYs M16 SPR up on RSOV for my next purchase.
