Is anyone familiar with the Sharp LC-42XD1EA. Was thinking about buying one but heard something about pixelated picture quality.

    Lovely screen.

    Great Value.

Pixelated on SD content but most LCD's are.

For PC, SKY HD and PS3/Xbox 360 - Fantastic.

I'm trying to convince the other half to let me get the 52" Model for the front room.

Thanks for that, ended up buying one now just to set it up :D
Have ntl digital hopefully I wont notice the pixelation too much on the SD broadcasts.

Can anyone with this TV check something for me?

I'm interested in buying this set but want to connect a HDV camcorder (1080i signal) by component. Apparently this set needs you to connect component through its VGA socket with an adapter, but the same VGA socket also limits PC connections to 1360x768.

Can a 1080i component signal going through the VGA socket, with the included adapter, provide the full 1080i signal on the screen? Since you'll still get a decent HD signal if you connect it up (but perhaps not the full 1080i signal) I'd need someone who's fairly certain on this rather than just an assumption.

    Many thanks in advance.

The screen is 1920 x 1080 resolution so PC input can take 1920 x 1080.

The component input over 15 pin D-Sub should be able to take 1080i.

If in doubt try power city for a test.

I'm aware the screen is 1920x1080 but the VGA input cannot take this resolution. All the other connections can. If you want to get this resolution from a PC you've to use a DVI->HDMI adapter as the HDMI connection can do 1920x1080 fine - I've read so several times.

The VGA is limited to a smaller resolution and the component connection is by an adapter connected to the VGA input.

I think I've found my answer. I googled the name of the TV and Xbox (even though I won't be using an Xbox, a lot of people need to use component for 1080 output). I believe it's possible to get the full 1080i through the component on the tv. No definite confirmation though.

Spoke to a guy in Sharp, the Component breakout cable can do 1080i.
