looking forward to this, i dread the early rise but it's really a great game, hopefully there will be a good turn out this week. tony you should make an effort to play you'd love the structure, plenty of room to take a beat here and there.

Yeah Eamonn, thats why i want to play it. I've heard you get paid off something terrible by players aswel because they have loads of chips! Value betting FTW

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 657 ✭✭✭BuChan

lol it's very true, last month some guy moved all-in for twice the pot on a 9 turn after a QQJ flop which i called a pot sized bet on. he had 88 and i called with AA unfortunately the 10 ball fell on the river for a straight! LOL..... standard! this kind of thing is going on all through the early stages, the guy started the hand with 45K with the blinds at 400/800 and he's willing to get it in on this insane bluff......it's not hard to get value from hands and with the huge stacks a couple of these maniacs send chips your way and you're cruising to the final table with a 50BB stack or hopefully considerably more. hope to see you there.

i'm going to try make this game.

    2 questions..

    1) If its first time at red cow, I can just join 30 mins before the tourney starts?

    2) What time does it usually finish? Would it be finished before 1am?

Subject to what JP says ...

    1) Yes, in fact get there 5 mins before and you are okay

    2) Not likely, prolly 2-3am depending on numbers.

    1) You can get in up until the end of the 1st level as we leave dead stacks out which blinded away. If you are running late you can ring ahead and i'll leave a stack out for you. My mobile number is 087 6448132

    2) Last week with Vera's game in the SE we only got 27 players and it was over at 10.30. However i would expect a min of 45 players this week, expect to reach the final around 10-10.30pm with the game finishing between 1-2.30am depending on how fast the game goes.

42 runners. I am sure the match affected it somewhat. Just in, I got 2nd for 1900 plus trophy. Took a bit off 1st and 2nd to end up giving 7th money back. Very enjoyable game with some sick sick calls from some players. I was shortstack going to final table with about 36k (840k in play) but managed to double up 2nd hand of FT with AA vs 23o all in preflop  But was short all the way through. Only woke up at five past 2 (game starts at 2pm) and drove the 45 min drive in record time to get in on time. Just want to apologise to any dealer unlucky to sit beside me as I had no time to get a shower and must have stinked after last nights heavy session (didnt even have time to change the clothes!)

Very enjoyable game and well run as ever by JP and gang.

    Marc

Some of the details are a bit hazy but down to the last twenty I was slightly above the average stack level and was ready to gamble where necessary to try and get to the final table with a decent stack. Tried to avoid the big stacks and pick the right spots to get my chips in. Hit my flush when I called an allin with A5d on 66x flop (2 diamonds). BCB all in preflop with pocket Queens, I called with AK for about a third of my stack and hit. Sat back a bit then and took some other pots on the way.
Got to the final table with about 212k (840k in play)
Phil and Damo were the dominant players at the FT. I played tight, waiting for some of the smaller stacks to blow up and not taking too many risks.
Was slowly bleeding chips due to blinds/antes, and a very cold deck but determined to play it patient until the right situation came up and not go out on a bluff or a draw.
Was down to about 125k at one stage. Took some chips off Phil when I had a straight with gapped connectors.
Phil and Damo went to war on one hand with Phil reraising all in on the flop with an OESD.
Damo called with A high and took it down to be on a big stack.
I won’t try and summarise the rest of the play (that’s JP’s area) due to short term memory loss and three and a half hours sleep last night but I started running better and surprised myself by taking it down.
Thanks to the guys at the FT, enjoyable game played in good spirit.
Well played Marc, you handled your short stack impressively to take 2nd, thanks for turning up with a hangover!
Cheers to JP, Christine and crew for a well run/ structured tournament.

    Paul

Great report JP..Well done to you and your trusty crew for another excellant tournament...You deserve more support for these events and also your weekly tournies than you've been recently getting at this venue...

On a personal note, I got one of those moments when for some strange reason you just will not listen to yourself when playing in a hand...it's a weird sensation and as soon as the hand is over you just go '****e I knew it'.....I just knew Paul had a monster....I'm some Donk.....

Anyway well done to Paul and Marc and keep up the good work JP.....
