    I won this [URL="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330156264915&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA
:IT&ih=014"]auction[/URL] and they are exam materials for the Chartered Financial Analyst exam.

It's a set of books and two DVDs. Before the auction ended, I emailed the seller to confirm if the DVDs were geniune or were they just copies.

The seller replied after the auction ended and replied that they were just copies. For £175 sterling which is quite a lot of money I'd expect only genuine DVDs.

I haven't been in this situation before so can I pull out now without paying? And is it possible that I'll get negative feedback out of spite?

If you want to pull out report them to eBay. They're not allowed sell copies of DVDs on eBay (unless it's not copyrighted work obviously).

How much would they be new?

When you're bidding check the sellers feedback for other auctions. In this one you can see they've had one other sale for £1. End result don't go near them.

Report him definately and leave him negative feedback as he clearly states the DVD's are *Brand new*. Plus he has a picture of his ugly mug on his MyEbayWorld page along with his feedback....

Listing says seller has PayPal Protection for up to €221 (£150) for buyer.

This should cover this as PayPal says

"You can file a claim against a physical good you purchased on eBay that is significantly different than what was described in the listing." link

I can't report him and you need to wait 10 days until you can start a dispute.
I did email to say I wouldn't be paying and to cancel the auction.

I fully expect to get spiteful negative feedback which hurts me as I've 24 feedback but he has one feedback so he can simply start a new account.

I'll wait the 10 days and if negative feedback is left, then hopefully ebay will remove it.

    Thanks for the advice

10 days to start a dispute but you can still report him. There's a link at the bottom of the listing.

Feedback is only removed in certain situations. See:
