Sky Box not storing other channels

    Hi all,

I have 2 Sky boxes which I now use for FTA viewing. On one of them I've added the BBC 3, 4, CBeebies channels with no problem. It's a Grundig box.

However, on the other box I have to add the channels every day as the box doesn't store them. Anyone got any ideas? It's probably a faulty box?

    Regards

Did you save settings before exiting menu?

Yes, saved settings. As I said, the other box is fine and I follow the same procedure for both. Sometimes the channels are there for a day or so, but they invariably disappear.

If you use the boxes for FTA, you don't need a viewing card. Can you not just put the box on the English EPG and then you won't have to add channels such as BBC3 to "Other Channels"???? Or am I missing something here??

Some of the digiboxes are notorious for deleting the channels you add to Other Channels. In some cases, adding only a few channels can improve things.

Yes, that can also be done. Watty has outlined the procedure in these forums a good few times. From memory:
    • Go to Sky News [501]
    • Press the red button for Sky News Active
    • Remove your viewing card
    • Press backup
    • Hope for the best and look at the EPG

I have seen some boxes such as the pace ones lose channels stored in the other channels when unplugged...only solution is to leave them on standby

    Thanks guys,

Wasn't aware that this could be done. Will try it this evening.

That 100% works... We have a Sky box, the card expired at some stage, the box was left in the house... Now we have no card in the slot, the English EPG is up (BBC1 London, BBC2 England etc.) and it works grand...
