No I think they are really good. I've been looking for this ad on youtube for the past few days so that I can show it to a friend who litters. Does anyone have a link for it???

Completely ridiculous, overblown adverts just like the road safety ones. The woman just looks like she hasn't heard of a ****in shower.

Well can anyone suggest an alternative that might work if you think they're so bad or over the top?

In fairness it's not an easy thing to make ads for that will get through to people.. And Ireland is a fairly scummyplace when it comes to littering, so something has to be done.

True but we're still way behind in terms of simple cost effective measures. For example I can walk 25 mins home and once I leave the middle of town there is not one rubbish bin on or near the footpath all the way home. Putting even a few along the route would prob improve things

Start imposing harder fines and punishments for littering. They won't solve it by making some stupid advert about a dirty woman.

Definitely agree with you about bins. Often times where there are bins, they're overflowing because they're not emptied often enough.

I do think ads like this serve a purpose though in that they're trying to change peoples' habits and the perception of littering, which unfortunately in our country is widely accepted as normal behaviour by a lot of people. It is a scummy habit and this needs to be put across to those people who think it's acceptable to throw rubbish on the street.

I welcome the new ads, though I think they'll probably be lost on the littering scumbag population..

Billboard ads that say "If you litter, you're a filthy scumbag" might get the point accross..

I agree. I go to and from work from the Upper Drumcondra Road to the Malahide Road via Griffith Avenue. There's no bins between Philipsburgh Avenue and the 123 bus terminus on my side of the road. While I'm willing to cross the road or carry any rubbish the half mile or so I'd guess many wouldn't. But I was in Belfast in 2003 and I thought the litter problem was worse, at least where I was.

I like the message the ads portray, but whether it'll hit home on the people it needs to is beyond me.
