While I was in Austria, I bought a MSI Megasky 580 DVB-T stick in Vienna. I'm back now and I'm trying to scan for channels here in Lucan with (Vista Media Centre and Presto PVR!) but I'm having no luck. Does anyone have any ideas on how to tune them in on the PC?

    See this thread :

I think the Pinnacle Hybrid PCTV tuners are OK!
    I have a PCTV Hybrid USB 330e. (around €74)

Hiowever, the newest TV Centre Pro (4.9) has a problem with the Encryption tag. So stay away from it until they have a new version out.

However, the older version works and "MyTheatre" is also working on my PC with this stick.

when I plugged the card into my roof aerial it picked up the channels but then the software crashed? does anyone have any suggestions for any Vista compatible DVB-T software, media center still doesn't pick up anything with the roof aerial either.

It did pick up the Austrian DVB-T channels fine with the small aerial that came with it, but I was pretty central to Vienna so thats probably why.

Precondition for progdvb is a bda driver for the stick.

USB tuners and PC/Laptop screens are poor to for TV for a number of reasons.

    Tell me the reasons.
If the the signal is bad and data get lost it doesn't matter if a tuner is built in into a USB device or a STB. The picture will be always bad.

I got the software to work (dodgy driver was at fault). Downloaded the latest from the website. The stick is HD compatible, but the software isn't compatible with HD signals. And is there any way of recieving the encrypted stations?

Edit: roverdublin, that was 50 euro more than I fished out on mine. Ripoff Republic eh?

No you can't receive the encrypted stations. Since ALL the work on those sticks is done by main CPU, all are inherently HD DTT compatible. But you need 3GHz+ non-celeron for HD. Plus really a 1920x1200 Laptop/PC screen
