If you want it, go for it. Haven't heard anything bad about the PRS SE guitars.

The SE line have consistantly got good reviews - I played the tremonti SE when I was over in the US a few weeks ago, quite nice alright. Even within the SE range there's alot of choice, included the semi hollow custom so definately play as many as you can if you get the chance.

But I do remember reading a review of the micro synth recently which was fairly negative tbh, but never played it myself

yeah ill be pretty cautious in buting it, i dont really want another pedal that i ll never use, but i have a good idea for it, but i ll make sure its cool before i fork over the cash,

might buy new hardware for my current guitar and do it up instead

My advice/opinion is...if ya fancy a US PRS guitar, then don't spend money on the SE...while a very good guitar, it's not the real deal...I say save up the extra cash and buy a second hand CE22 or Standadrd 22 (or whatever) on ebay or chrisguitars.com for around the 1000 mark !!!

    just an example...

    1025 dollars

Not to cloud the issue here, but $600 is the "sweet spot" price for many Schecters. :)

I wouldn't be too quick to pay that much money out to an ebayer with 1 previous sale!

Does anybody have an idea of what it costs to bring a guitar across as luggage from america? Planning on the whole j1 thing to california next year and would be interested in getting a guitar while i'm over there.

EDIT: Just found this when i looked up on Aer Lingus:

    Musical instruments
A musical instrument can be carried in the cabin provided it is within the hand baggage size/weight limit.

If the instrument is larger than the permitted hand baggage size, and the passenger wishes to carry it in the cabin, they have to purchase an additional seat for the instrument (this can be done online and normal taxes and charges apply). The instrument should be booked in the name of Cello/A Ms or Harp/A Ms.

If the passenger wishes to carry the instrument in the hold, and it does not require special handling, i.e., is not oversized, then he/she can do so by paying a bag fee for the instrument either online or at the airport.

If the instrument is too large to go through the normal checked bag process it is then charged at the same rate as golf equipment and skis (currently €25 online, or €30 at the airport).

Aye, I'm wondering that myself. No way is a guitar gonna fit within the permitted hand baggage size (check the dimensions on the website). Yet I've heard of people carrying guitars on board as hand luggage. Would they fit in the overboard baggage? At the airport, I asked somebody from Aer Lingus whether I was allowed one on board or not and she said no. But everyone I've talked to has said that an act was passed that you are allowed one musical instrument on board as WELL as hand luggage provided it is in a padded bag/plastic bag and not a hardcase. Load of rubbish methinks.

Soooooo, in conclusion I'd say your better off getting a good hardcase and checking in the guitar instead of having it as hand luggage. Although the people in the guitar shops I've been to (I'm in New York by the way!!!) have said that if you to the airport and DEMAND that your bringing the guitar as hand luggage (as if to say "I know I'm allowed to do this so don't try and convince me I'm not") it''ll be alright.

But then again, they were trying to sell me a guitar.

Still, haven't bought one yet but back on the subject (wow this is a long post...) I was thinking of buying a PRS SE Custom as well! But some people have told me it's not a 'real' PRS so I dunno if I'd be wasting my money....

Tried out some sweet guitars in New York and I'm back in Boston to try out Guitar Center. They even have CIJ Jaguar's!!!
