Try putting some brasso (Brass cleaning product) on cotton wool or a tissue, rubbing it on to cd and then wiping it off. Worked before for me.

If they're too badly scratched then theres not much you can do. The data just isn't there anymore. Try cleaning the disks a bit with a soft cloth and that might help .

Agreed. In future I'd suggest giving him copies of the store bought discs. Although, it's a bit unusual to be giving DVDs to a 2 year old.

Heights work well, if you can move them :)

gently wipe some toothpaste into the disc, then clean it off with a damp cloth and see if it still works. toothpaste works well to "fill in" small scratches and let the laser read the data. however if the scratches are too deep the data layer could be damaged and you'll have to buy new discs...

they sure do, but when the dvd is playing and you walk out of the room the eject button is not out of reach.

Had the same problem with my two.
    Kids can get anywhere!!!

What i did was copy them to my computer - whenever they needed a new copy I'd make a new one. I went through about 100 DVD's with their using them as shoes/Frisbies/food.

Then just as i thought they were finished with them i deleted them - and guess what a year later ....'where's XXX DVD'

    so two bits of advice
    1) back them up on Computer
    2) NEVER delete them (even after the kids are > 18) :)

Could a new copy of the disk be got? I mean, it's the software you paid for, not the plastic.
