Dell Vostro OS

    Really wanna get the Dell vosta 1700 but would prefer to get it with Windows ultimate or home prem does anyone know if you ring them up can they do this for you or is it a compatibility issue with the 1700 range??

    It wouldn't be a compatibility issue that's for sure. I think the vostro range is aimed at businesses and hence why it comes with the business edition. I can't see why they wouldn't upgrade it if you asked.

    I have the 1500 and I got Vista Ultimate - very nice...I will have a look around and see can I find you anything that might help

    I have a Vostro 1000 and I put ultimate on it, works very well.

    I rang up about that very same issue, there is no way you can purchase a Vostro 1700 with Windows Ultimate... The guy on phone was surprised when he saw that, he didn't know why but he thinks it may be some compatibility issue, he was gonna put me on hold to find out but i told him not to worry...

    Settled on a Vostro 1500 instead... (with Ultimate)

    thanks lads...decided to go for 1500 in end due 2 it being more mobile...less battery usage...n because you can get ultimate on it :) thanks for the help

    What sort of delay did they quote for you? I ordered last Tuesday, not expected till the 6th September...

    Wish I had it now... :(

    ordered on sunday n been told delivery be 12th :( but knew there was delay since the vostro was first launched so no surprise

    Suppose it's such a good offer, it'll be worth the wait...

    By the way, my boss got a 1400, it's a good looking laptop... :D
