DNS, Key-Ports and Default Gateway Are All Failing On My Shared Wireless Connection

I have connected perfectly to two different wireless connections that two different neighbours are sharing with me, one is an unencrypted signal {configured for open access} the other has a WEP encryption.

Both signals are low-very good, and both involve me sending information packets with no difficulty, and receiving very little in return. Therefore, there is no connectivity despite the fact that I am ostensibly connected to the wireless signals.

When Messenger attempts to connect, it displays a failure for either the Default Gateway, the DNS or sometimes even just the Key Ports alone.

I suggested that my neighbours might be having problems of their own but they are connecting via the Ethernet with no problems of any sort.

    Any ideas chaps??

    Cheers.

PS this used not be a problem, and has only developed recently, leading me to think there is a problem with the settings on my machine.:(
