Paddy Power Poker - Your Inflexible Friend

Does anyone else have a problem with the total inflexibility of Paddy Power Poker in relation to their Irish Open satellites.

At present they are running satellites for €5, €20 & €36 every day where entry can be won to a Super satellite on Sunday 26th August.

So what’s the problem. Well if you win the seat valued at €340 + €20 and find you cannot play on that Sunday you just lose your seat with no refund. No option to play on another date.

Surely this is wrong. Also from a marketing point of view it is utterly stupid. If for example I know I cannot play a final on Sunday 26th there is no point in playing in the satellites in the preceding weeks.

Why can’t they do what Poker Stars do & allow you to cash in for the value of the seat.

If you contact PPP you get some prick quoting you the “Terms & Conditions” as if you were dealing with a government office looking for something for nothing. Have they ever heard of customer relations in that place.

Also why is every satellite seat valued at €8,500 when the cost of the seat to play is only €4500, almost the price of two tickets. €4000 for a bed in Dublin for 3/4 nights is a little rich.

    Opinions welcome.

Are u sure the packages are €8,500 EURO worth? If so, I can't wait to hear PPP's answer on this

I think its fine tbh. Il admit its a slight inconvenience but its hardly the end of the world.

You are aware that the final is on a specific date - if you cant play the final - dont play the satellite.

Lets say they are guaranteing a seat every fortnight? 14 qualifiers up to this stage and then 10 of them decide they are not available to play - 4 players for one guaranteed seat? This doesnt make sense from a business perspective. Its not like sats on stars where the player base and liquidity afford them the luxury of allowing their players to unregister willy nilly.

Also Im pretty sure its a $8500 package which at current fx rates equates to roughly €6,250 so the expenses, whilst a little bit much are not ridiculous and make it more appealing to their total player base and not just the Irish domiciled customers.

its $8500 and at current rates that leaves a resonable amount of expenses - a large % of players will be travelling from UK, Europe and beyond.

as for unregistering from a tournament, it's just not technically possible. It makes perfect sense though and is in development.

Sorry Karl, OP said it was euro. $8,500 seems fine to me all things considered

As you may have noticed we have started Satellites slightly earlier this year. It is our intention to get a feel for demand and then add more Super Sats etc as demand dectates. It is not our intention to be inflexible at all and we hope to add more sooner rather than later. As always if you guys have any suggestions as to when a good time etc would be please let us know.

Adopting the t$ format like stars would be a great idea.

I sent this mail to PartyPokers support 2 weeks ago..

    Hello,

play it tonight. There is an option to unregister. if i click this will
the money go into my account ro will i receive tournament tokens or what
happens? I'd appreciate a reply asap. Thanks for your help

    and the reply was...

    Dear Tony,

    Thank you for contacting us!

Unfortunately you will not be able to unregister for it. Therefore if
you cannot play your balance will be blinded out until you cannot stay
    in the game further.

In case you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact
us. We will be more than happy to help you.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site!

    Kind Regards,

    Tristan
    PartyPoker Customer Care

I couldnt play the game and a player at another table said i could unregister so i tried it and got a freeroll into another $50k gtd tournament.

On another note, i qualified for the $500+$30 WCOOP Omaha event on in september but i might be going away that week. If i found i couldnt play it, can i unregister and receive the cash to my account? Pokerstars btw

Dont mean to derail kakak ;)

    My error, $8,500 & not €8,500, apologies.

Might be an idea not to have all the final satellites on a Sunday night, not the best night for some. Looking forward to when we can unregister from a PP qualified tournament like on PS

Don't do it any time soon..... The more dead money in a tournament the better. You wouldn't book a hotel room, flight, restaurant, bus blah blah if you knew you couldn't make it. Long may it continue that idiots enter satellites for finals they can't turn up to.

I've even seen some of these smart lads make final tables on PP..... and occasionally they even manage to win their big blinds!!!!

Lazare was right when he said all your posts are Sh1te.

Did you even read the original post. It said "if you found you could not play" it didn't advocate playing a satellite when you know you cannot play in the final.

Now Moro you may be a sad Bast**d with nothing else going on in your life but some of us have other commitments that arise within the forthnight that it takes for this final to be played.
