Kildare Cycling Routes

In the vein of previous threads I'm wondering if anybody has some good Kildare cycle routes. I've done some nice exploring Naas to Newbridge etc. and especially the new cycly lanes around Naas are great but I am wondering if anybody knows some really interesting routes.

I am most interested in cycling from Naas up to the Dublin mountains if this is possible and perhaps if there is any interseting circuits which can be completed along the canal or the liffey.

I'm based in Celbridge but haven't cycling much around the area since i moved there last year. But the year before i did a charity cycle that ran along the canal from Athy to Kill. It it was extremely pleasant. Fairly flat, though and with the occasional off road/bumpy bits at times. It would be a perfect ride if you have a cyclocross type bike or a road bike with reasonable thick tyres.

a reply from the Dublin Cycling Routes i posted yesterday...
Someone posted this http://tinyurl.com/34cx52 here a while ago.
It is truly brilliant, and I bow to the man who entered all the routes.
Don't miss the nifty elevation map below the main map.

Kildare CC run races every so often over this route, some nice hills and views over the midlands.

And once you can get to Blessington then you're near the start of both the western Sally Gap climb or the Wicklow Gap.

You could even go up the Wicklow Gap down the other side, Larragh, up the Sally Gap, down the west side of Sally Gap and then be heading back to Blessington.

Interesting and Wicklow go together to my mind. Interesting and Kildare, not so much. I like climbs.

Maynooth>Dunboyne>Summerhill*>Kilcock>Maynooth or the other way around, there is a nice wee climb on the road from Summerhill to Kilcock, if you do the other way round route, the Summerhill to Dunboyne road (approx 19kms) is mostly up hill but nothing really to write home about, its just a wee bit long! the route total is just under 50kms

*I dont go into Summerhill I turn at the roundabout.

NB.You will pass the pub with the best name in Ireland(never seen it open though) The hatchet inn!

    Celbridge based also
A lot of flat land around here ! I need hills to get my legs in.
Pure road riding is generic enough but the canals are interesting if you have a hybrid or mtb

Naas Cycling Club have a Failte Spin every Saturday, pace is easy and mainly to introduce you to some group riding with the Club. Just means you can travel further and not have to worry about directions so much!

On the plus side you get to see some fantastic scenery, enjoy it and have a nice coffee stop.

They meet every Saturday @ 9.30am and no one gets left behind!

Here are a few routes that might whet your appetite a little meantime:

    Celbridge-Newcastle-Saggart-Brittas.

Once you're in Brittas you can go over Ballinascorney and up Kippure-Sally Gap-Brittas and home for 86km and about 1100m of climbing.

Or you can got Brittas-manor Kilbride-Sally Gap and back the same route for about 67km.

I've a good few routes from Celbridge that are interesting. PM me if you want ridewithgps links.

Here's a Kildare spin I just did, with a bit of Dublin thrown in
    http://www.strava.com/activities/161942204
Hills, flat stretches, sun and rain-pretty good roads as well for the most part.
