Anyone use one here? Im going kayaking in the grand canyon in september for two weeks, I need a good solid waterproof case to put my camers in. Have spotted kayakers with these cases before and they look bombproof.

    Are they available in ireland?

    Any help would be great.

I know Barkers in Cork sell the odd 1510 with the dividers in it. Foam is an extra apparently. Had pondered on getting one some time ago to store all my stuff.

Dunno about bombproof, but theyre surely waterproof.. and err sinkproof.

How much camera gear do you have to put in one?

iv my fz-30 with spare batteries and cards and a mju waterproof with spares also. so a small case would be perfect. ill be keeping it in the kayak with me so has to be pretty compact.

    ah.. a 1510 is overkill so :D

Might be worth ringing Barkers, he might have something small in stock or easily accessible.

I bought mine in the UK, but I see that Conns in Dublin have a stack of storm cases (pretty much the same thing) in all sorts of sizes. No idea on prices.

And get one as big as you think you can manage. It will keep your spare clothes dry too! :-)

Another option is to get a wet bag and put your regular camera bag into it. The ones where the top rolls down are amazing. any good scout/camping shop would have some. Much cheaper option, but would leak after a few minutes underwater (I think).

Do a search on FM for the same, I seem to remember a thread there about a guy destroying lots of $$$ worth of gear.
The older ones were water proof, the newer ones are 'water resistant', big difference.
Personally I've never come across something that didn't leak sooner or later.
