gigsmart, thumped, cluas, goldenplec, drummingireland (? am I imagining that one) ... all seem popular to varying degrees. I'm sure there are more. Best way is to stick some ads up in venues, rehearsal rooms etc. Not all musicians use the net.

Aye drop-d.ie seem to be very active down that way.

As the owner of goldenplec i can categorically say for the moment we dont organise any gigs of anykind but if you want to shop your band out feel free to drop over and sign up as a band and upload some music etc etc.

Cpu.ie are also good for band related stuff infact our interfaces should be similar.

Miju would be associated with cpu.ie and myself with the plec.

actually im now no longer part of the cpu team due to family commitments as of about 2 months ago, though hasnt been announced yet to cpu users

alas I have a new and a lot less time consuming , profitable (to keep the missus happy ;) ) and interesting project in the offing which will be a great help to bands in the real world and online though it wont be seeing the light of day till jan-feb next year, though it will be worth the wait ;);)

its a shame you guys haven't run more gigs. still remember those few gigs in the TBMC with great fondness as they were all great bands and everyone had great craic afterwards.....those nights where all bands playing are up to scratch are a rarity IMHO

Yep, squeezeboxireland.com is a site I created for just that. Still adding a few bits a pieces before it's finished fully, if ever, but there a fair amount of people on it at the moment so worth placing an ad there.

Not sure about any other sites. Always gumtree.ie I guess. I know there's a specific Cork version too.

Hi, Which forum is good for the midlands and Kildare to look for musicians?
    Cheers

there isnt really a forum for each area of ireland.

if i were a band from there i would upload my music and maintain

    A Bebo
    A Myspace
    A Cpu.ie Account
    A Goldenplec.com account

Frequent the Drop-d.ie site, Thumped.com site, cluas.com and possibly the cpu.ie and goldenplec forums. Also promoting your band on these very forums.

Irish Music Sites come and go its just a sad fact, fortunately, cpu and thumped and cluas have all been around years, as is the site i run, goldenplec.com, drop-d is about a year and a half old, weather it stays the long run we'll see but of the newish sites they show the most promise.

Also getting yourself in with a gig organising crowd like drop-d and soundgate music, these can help too.
