keep the stub from the transfer form saying when you bought it.... shouldn't have a problem....

Yeah, once you get it taxed within a reasonable period after buying it you shouldn't have any trouble from the Gardaí, unless you meet one that's an arsehole like I did last year. When I bought a car last year it took about a month for the paperwork to come through from Shannon

keep the stub ticket to say youve just bought it. Bring your ins cert and d/licence around with u at all times. The Gardai will give u about 6 weeks to get it taxed.

Took me 6 weeks to get the VLC/Logbook back.

If it's a new car the Gardaí will know by your registration number. If it's a used car then keep all documentation relating to the purchase with you - sales order form, invoice, etc. Especially if the tax is more than three months out of date.

ya the gardai can check your ins disc on the windscreen and see when the policy started.
