How long to wait for delivery of Ebay item?

Im not that familiar with the finer points of the Ebay system but basically what happened was I won auctions on 2 separate days for 2 different MP4 players but from the same seller. I paid additional money to have then sent by registered post and as far as i can see the first one was posted from Japan or Korea or somewhere in those neck of the woods.

The first one was posted on 1st August and arrived about a week later, around the 8th. The second one was posted on 2nd August and has not arrived. I sent the seller a message yesterday but he has not replied yet.

Seeing as its now 14 days since the second item was apparently posted should I now be getting worried? How long should I wait or what would be the normal timescale for contacting Ebay or Paypal about this.

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't worry too much yet, 14 days isn't really that long for an item coming from there. In particular you shouldn't worry too much as you already have one item so I'm sure the second is on the way.
Paypal will cover you with a full refund if you haven't received the item 30 days after you won the auction. Once you go past 30 days however you have to go through eBay to reclaim your money and it's an arduous process. With them you have up to 45 days I think it is and you don't get all of your money back, about 2/3rds of it.

Thanks eo980. Thats put my mind at rest.

I was getting a wee bit worried seeing as they were posted just a day apart and now its a week since the first one arrived. The seller has great feedback so I would think its a case of it being slowed down somewhere in the mail.

Anyway we will wait another 2 weeks before panicking.

    Thanks again.

Ebay are ****ing kunts. I put in a proper complaint about not receiving goods, it is a 60 day deadline, i.e. it was the automated complaint which then gets raised to a dispute to get the money. It seems it never registered with them. I still have to get onto the C/C company to do a chargeback to the ****ers in paypal.

60 days is bull****, from ebays own help page...
Before you leave negative or neutral Feedback, please take the following steps:
    Allow adequate time
Regular domestic mail can take up to two weeks, media mail can take up to six weeks, and international mail can take even longer to deliver.
Sellers normally won't ship an item until payment clears, which can take up to ten days.
Many businesses are closed weekends and holidays.
Not all buyers check eBay or their email daily. Make sure you have given your buyer enough time to respond or pay.

So 10 working days for payment to clear, -2weeks. Then longer than 6 weeks for international mail- so you should wait about 60 days before leaving neg feedback, and by that stage they have your money since ebay dont give a f-uck. Lad I bought from is still trading with no problems at all.

You have up to 45 days to file a buyer complaint with PayPal, thats 45 days from the transaction date. You have 60 days to claim from eBay.

@OP, for items being sent internationally it is generally taken that 21 days is the maximum amount allowed for delivery, if the item has not arrived by then it most likely will not arrive.

@Ruprect, not sure what problem you are having, have you tried to file a complaint through PayPal?

I wouldn't wait that long if I were you. If it's not arrived by next Thursday (3 weeks from posting) then go to Paypal and start a dispute. This won't get Paypal involved yet but will be more likely to get a response from the seller as the mails will be from Paypal. If he doesn't respond to the dispute within a couple of days then escalate it to a claim. That should get his attention.

I paid for something and never got it. This happened before and I put in the complaint - not an email- the automated version. Then I had to raise it to a dispute before the time was out.

It gets confusing, I will call them complaint, and claim.

I put in the complaint. (you must put in a complaint before a claim).

Then I went to put in the claim (as before).

It would not allow me to do this, as though the complaint was never in.

I went to put the complaint it- couldnt do it since I already had!

Emailed paypal & ebay with no response, or just the usual disgraceful automated responses.

I do not really want paypal to sort it, they are worthless scum. I will just get the credit card to do a chargeback. This way I get all my money back. In future I will never try and claim via paypal either, the scumbags screwed me for about €25 last time with their currency charges, with a bank chargeback I get it all back.

If you want to pm me your details, either email address or the PayPal case number I can have a look at it for on Monday to see what happened and let you know. Not all of us are worthless scum, thanks.

Thanks Mustangs. I assume you work for Paypal. I will give it another couple of days but if I dont get it by Tuesday next I will send you a couple of details. It hasnt gone to dispute stage yet but its looking more likely as each day goes by.

I've tracked stuff a few times from the east , I think stuff only gets sent out every 10 days.
Sometimes you can be lucky and it leaves in a couple of days and it takes a week,or you might just miss it and have to wait up to 3 weeks.

Last item took a week to leave canada and another three days or so from there.

Just a wee update on this. The seller got back to me on August 18 and quoted a tracking number and a link to the Hong Kong postal services site. Checked this out and it showed the package had been posted on August 11 and not August 2 as previously advised by seller.

Anyhow it arrived yesterday so no need to worry about the disputes procedure now.

Thanks guys for all the help and advice .
