Beat Kerry only to get beaten by Meath in the final (and face the inevitable rollicking that would go with it).

or simply lose in the semis...

Beating Kerry would be nice in itself, so given the choice (somehow) I'd go with that.

What will Colm O'Rourke do if Dublin beat Meath in the final?

Maybe jump off the top of the Hogan stand

tbh thats one of those million euro questions that are very close. If we had an All Ireland under our belts in the last 3-4 years i would say lose to Kerry but at this stage i would have to take the slagging and lose a final to Meath. It would show improvement in the squad and a good basis to work towards next years AI.

I could only imagine the abuse we would get off Lemlin and Meathman.

I knew what the question would be before I even opened the thread. Hypothetically speaking, I'd definitely rather lose the final, even if it was against Meath. It's been so long since the Dubs last reached the final and I'm just hoping we can do it this year and go all the way.

I think we've never had a better chance of beating Kerry actually. We missed the boat last year but we came back and are in the same position this year.I'd rather lose to Meath in a final than go out now.Us Boardsies want another night out celebrating,it'd be progress as well.

Meath have to get past Cork though

Had to laugh at this, for the simple reason is the final is gonna be Kerry V Cork no doubt about it Dublin and Meath not even in with a shout.

Had to laugh at this myself. If you have been following the championship carefully, you'll have realised that this is the year of the up and coming teams ie Dublin,Meath,Derry,Monaghan while the bigger teams Tyrone,Armagh,Mayo,Laois have all regressed.Kerry were in no way impressive on Sunday and Cork have been scraping by against the likes of Louth and Sligo when there was big speculation on their performance against Kerry in a match they deserved to win.

I think the two Leinster teams have a very big chance of getting to the final, especially Meath who on past form have been more impressive than Cork.In saying this I will warn our Meath counterparts that I expect Cork to seriously raise their game and wouldn't get complacent.

I just know that if we meet Meath in the final (assuming both get through) then Geraghty and O'Rourke will score the winning goals. If it happens tbh I'd split my sides laughing, sure what else could you do?

As for the up and coming teams all gone bar Dublin (who crash and burn every year around the same stage) and Meath. Dont expect Cork to go down easy especially as they went so early in the hurling, and Kerry who are sporting somewhat of a new team are doin quite well, but to the comment of following the championship closely i much prefer watching hurling and do follow it closely every year, more skillfull, faster pase and just a better game overall. Killkenny for two in a row this year.

i think if meath can beat cork i think they'll beat who ever they get in the final. cork will be very hard to beat. i think dublin need to watch out for kerry because they will get a backlash from them. ross mc at full back is a joke, everyone has been talking about him all year but i think he has been crap. he was found out against his 1st real full forward he marked all year and donaghy will kill him. hes's a good club player not a county player. i also dont think dublins mental strenght is their. they were lucky in the last five mins against derry, bar the keeper was on good form

Who else would you put on Donaghy? McConnell didn't have the best of games against Derry but not many backs get the better of Paddy Bradley. He got skinned once in the second half and that should have led to a goal but I wouldn't exactly call him a joke. The mental strength is a good point but then again, they managed to get the better of Meath in a close fought match and came out winners against Derry in a match reminiscent of last years semi against Mayo.

For me it stems from which rivalry is it for you either the dubs v kerry or the dubs v meath

While kerry is an older rivalry for me its the bigger of the two i would love to see us stuff meath....can i say both?:D

Nah man would rather beat kerry and lose to meath then get knocked outta semis

Leonitos, you can't say that Dublin and Meath aren't even in with a chance, very far from it.Cork and Kerry are the two teams that have made it this far in unimpressive fashion.

Lets take a look at the up and coming teams that made it to the final stages

    Monaghan:

Beat Derry in a gruelling match they were expected to lose and then push Tyrone to the final whistle in the Ulster Final. They then go on to defeat Donegal who people were crowing about since April and the league final. Then they push Kerry around Croke Park and wouldn't let them settle at all and lead the match for 66 mins roughly only to lose by 1 point.

    Derry:

3 big teams are the victim to Derrys backlash after they lose to Monaghan. They beat Armagh by the slimest of margins and then hockey Mayo really bad and then dump Laois out of the championship only to lose to Dublin by a small amount.

    Meath:

Dispose of Kildare easily in a lacklustre performance, take Dublin to a replay, lose that replay by 4 points at the death and then account for Fermanagh,Galway and then beat 2005 champions Tyrone in a match they were under-dogs.

    Dublin:

Get past Meath after two gruelling matches and then beat Offaly a week later when the players are still bruised and battered from the previous week against Meath and then beat Laois after going behind early in the Leinster final. They then survive a late scare to beat Derry in the quarters.

The two Leinster teams have had a tougher path to the semi final than the two munster teams.I think Dublin and Meath are better prepared for their matches.
