    Hello,

I'm thinking about getting a new mac mini and am looking for opinions on non-apple monitors ie what would people recommend? The Samsung Syncmaster ones look nice. Also any ideas on size would be welcome. I wouls be using the mac mini for general use, internet, e-mail, microsoft office, etc. Would a 22 inch monitor be overkill?

    thanks.

Check out Dell. And call them on the phone; I heard you can get massive discounts that way.
    *ducks*

oh, and I'm using an old SyncMaster. It's lovely.

Currently using the Dell 2407wfp on my mini @ 1920X1200 - looks great and has come down in price twice recently, was over a grand and now its 700. built in card reader and several inputs (I have a pc hooked up to it as well)

    Hello,

A further question/update to my original query:
I was very interested in the Samsung Syncmaster 226BW until I stumbled across this item on a web page http://www.behardware.com/articles/673-1/samsung-syncmaster-226bw-c.html
Does anyone know if this is an issue with Samsung monitors bought in Ireland?

Would anyone have experience of LG monitors, this one in particular:http://uk.lge.com/products/model/detail/widescreen_l226wtq.jhtml#

Finally, I was looking at Dell 22 in monitors, this one http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ie&l=en&s=dhs&cs=iedhs1&sku=88221 looks nice but is fairly pricey at €436.81. Incidently, this same monitor is available from the Dell USA site for $269

I'm using a SyncMaster 205BW and tis great altogether, never had the slightest problem with it. Can't vouch for other Syncmaster models of course :p

When I bought my Dell 20" display I remember reading that Dell and Apple used he same supplier for their LCD panels. Of course the Dell cost a lot less than a equivalent Apple cinema display (and came with lots more inputs, etc.). I have over 2 years now and no problems as yet.

It's worth bearing in mind that Dell use Samsung LCD panels in their displays, as do Sony...

Hardly Normal is doing a Fujitsu 22" Widescreen with DVI for 249 at the moment. Not top of the range or anything but a great price though. The resolution is only 1680x1050.

My old mini was connected up to a 20" old style apple cinema display, the acrylic photo frame-esque one. Worked great. I've seen a few on buy and sell lately for reasonable enough prices.

Any inputs other than DVI, or is it purely a monitor?

D-SUB 15 Pin and DVI only, what did you expect for 249 ?

Theres often monitors on adverts.ie and buyandsell.ie worth checking out.

I recently bought a beautifull Dell 1907fp for my mini for 150 quid, chuffed with that. The USB hub feature is great too, something I'd keep an eye out for as the usb ports at the back of the mini can be a bit fiddley, being so close together.

Good luck with your mini, you wont regret it. I love my new mini.

If youre buying new and on a tight budget, dabe.ie have some good deals.
