After getting my first gun from a friend who is very big into airsoft gaming for my 31 birthday i fell in love with the sport.I have a AGM mp008 m14 and after just 1 week I am the owner of a scope and bipod for the rifle I have always loved the m14 just because im a war nut who loves the weapons. Now I want to get a sniper rifle my friend has a warrior but im not sure i like the weapon.I was thinking of getting a 'JG' - Jing Gong Remington M700 sniper rifle with scope (BAR10A) but wanted someone to tell me what they are like.

    Hi and welcome.

Could you please do me a favour and calm down with the "weapons" and "war nut"?

Makes you sound like a loon.

paddy, i think the very first thing you should do is read the stickies at the top...there is invaluable information in there. airsoft is not just about the aeg's, and the worry people here will have is there is now a increasing amount of visibility of airsoft, some of it not good tbh, see thread on adrian whatshisface bsing about airsoft or air rifles, he could not distinguish which. that is a big concern for all in airsoft, and it should be the same for you. when someone comes here talking about weapons and running about, you put us all at risk, and the sport. no one wants that, so before you buy anything, its best to know what you are getting into. the good news is there are a lot of dod players here, I am one, increasing interest in ww2 airsoft as it happens...please please lets not knock airsoft back into the dark ages again....and to do that every single player has to accept the full weight of the entire airsoft community on their shoulders and how they react, present themselves, know the sport...if you reread your initial post, and put a journalist hat on who is anti-airsoft....well, i dont need to spell it out for you...

Hey its not to worry, its just that the term weapon refers to an object with which you plan to inflict harm so its become something of a buzz word around here :D

That said welcome to the board. I guess like most of the folks here my first piece of advice to you would be to come along to a skirmish before you actually buy any equipment. At any skirmish there are usually devices that cover all manner of roles played during a game sniper rifles, SAWs etc.

If you really want to go down the route of a sniper then I'd have to agree with liamo on the VSR although the 1Joule upgrade may not be strictly necessary.

one other point, your friend with the warrior rifle...if thats stock without a spring change, you should warn him he is breaking the law...as it fires at over 450fps...the legal limit is 1j or around 327fps... coupled he is not allowed play at any site in ireland as far as i am aware if its over 1j....hence my comment on the stickies....

well im not to sure about his warrior but i do know that it seems to shoot about the same distance as my m14 and thats under 1j.As for going to an event day sure sounds like fun to me.I have seen a tomson on the net and a mp40 just wish they had a m1 or mauser k98 ww2 rifles most of all i would like to have them as display models like my set of ww2 hand guns and us army clothes and rank tags.

Unfortunately most ww2 style pieces are made more collectors in mind rather than airsoft players. So a lot of them are gas powered and shooting way over 1 joule. Some even use 8mm bbs.

There are a few though. One of the guys who posts here has the (ACM?) MP40. It's very nice. Plus it's not that expensive.

Always been a big fan of the SVD Dragunov Sniper Rifle. Love Sniper Rifles in general tho. I would imagine an Airsoft Sniper would cost a few bob tho?

The problem is, most of them shoot over 1 joule. Actually, I'd say 99% of the good ones do. So you'd have to get it downgraded before you bring it in.

And yep, if you want a good one it'll cost you.

    Airsoft = not a cheap hobby :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40 |I.R|PaddyPower

Whats the tomson like i love them but to be honest it was a very expensive wep to make in ww2 so the americans used the M3 "Grease Gun" because it was cheap to make have been a real fan of these m3,s but god you must post a pick of your tompson would love to see it.P.S if anyone sees a Sten or lee enfield rifle I would be greatfull as these might not look as cool or as attractive as a m16 but as i say im a ww2 history freak.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,715 ✭✭✭Nalced_irl

I was thinking that they would have to be over 1j with them being longer distance rifles. I actually nearly took my eye out with a sniper rifle in Vietnam. Didnt have any eye protector (you know the rubber thingy at the end of the scope) and held it a little too close to my face. Wasnt too bad but if i had it a bit closer would have been painful enough id say.

i do...it was for the aliens rifle...never had the heart to strip it to be honest....

i maybe there saturday, so if you are going i will bring if you want a looksee...i need to hunt the battery out for it tho...

i might buy one of tommy gun clones for the aliens thingy....just doesnt seem right to strip a TM

edit...see piccie...only ever got 1 mag and it was the small type because thats what the eventual m41a pulse rifle needed...as you can see, i need to get out a bit more....LOL

.I have seen a tomson on the net and a mp40 just wish they had a m1 or mauser k98 ww2 rifles most of all i would like to have

    Howdy,

There is a nice looking Thompson M1921 that is a little pricey here:
    http://www.rsov.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=825&osCsid=cd045273f1c6dbc22d8797aa8692b262

Have not seen a K98 in airsoft I would like to see one.
My interests in WWII stuff has perked up because of something
    that happened me last Sunday.
(I know I am not supposed to talk about real steel ones here but sorry I cannot resist a tiny comment ...I fired a real one last sunday
Please don't discuss as its against the board guidelines)

I would love an Airsoft Bren Gun Mark III anyone know if they exist ?
and a Karl Gustaf SMG. (Sh1te ol thing but would like to have anyway)

Basically I want to collect Airsoft of all the things I fired in real steal
from a collectors point of view for sentimental value.

Sweet Jesus 675-680 Sterling how the hell do they justify
    that for an airsoft.

Nice but WAY out of my price range.

Its not a question of people complaining its just that we DON'T use weapons, Airsoft is a sport so anything used to partake in it is nothing more than sports equipment.

A weapon on the othe hand is
any instrument or device for use in attack or defense in combat, fighting, or war, as a sword, rifle, or cannon.
and since at best all we do is SIMULATE combat the term shouldn't be used.

I was thinking it was alright. phew..

I saw the furniture but was half thinking I might have a go at making them myself. I have access to all the woodworking equipment I could ever possibly need at work and their fairly square looking anyway.

I know but I don't go around using correct terminology in my daily life. A bit of wordplay isn't going to hurt anyone but I know the mammys take every off hand remark as fact.

This group is well informed, it shouldn't matter what kind of off hand remarks are made but you can see that the looming mammy brigade is putting the fear of losing your hobby into ye.

Regardless of using correct terminology in you daily life, this is a public forum which is frequented by many more than just Airsofters. Since we don't use them the term weapon has no place here.

Your damn right I don't want to loose my sport, if airsoft goes I might have to take up Golf and I'm pretty sure they won't let me play in full BDUs :D

true, true. Golf is some laugh, we have a course here in the town, one lad came back covered, head to toe in ****e and he's cloths ripped to bits. Golf is ten times more dangerous than Airsoft. Fact.

    RE: Thompson:
This is a great copy of the TM the barrel support is stronger than the TM due to a web in the casting.
See a picture here for comparison the TM is on top with a barrel support mod fitted.

    ---
what a good piece of kit

got mine the other day nice weight looks good feels good in the hand power well i have to say their is a fair punch to it,i will be putting mine into the m41a pulse rifle kit, and the price you cant do better and good service to boot

    colin
    ---
This gun is a direct copy of the TM only better.

It is very solid and quite possibly the best clone I've seen to date. the metals very nice quality with no rattles or creaks. the wood effect plastic looks very realistic and feels solid. The guns lovely and loud with a great range. Mine came out the box doing 350-354fps.

Well worth purchasing. you wont be disappointed
    ----

    All gave 5/5 Stars :D

Cant find a full one...so far.

He should contact PayPal immediately and stop payment if it hasn't already been sent. At least with PayPal he has some limited recourse, but it's essential that he acts quickly.
If not then as his friend you should just begin the coping strategies because two things are certain and undisputable based on the countless stories and personal accounts that are well, frankly ALL OVER THE AIRSOFT COMMUNITY about this scam artist-
    -The product will NEVER SHIP-
-His hard-earned money will NEVER BE RETURNED-
Another note- Many people have been personally harrassed by this individual and threatened with lawsuits- myself, close friends and even good Arnie himself- PLEASE take it from us: GET YOUR MONEY AND RUN!!!!!!!!!

Seems to be a scam job
