Its depends what course/which location you are going to. DIT in my experience are notoriously bad at sending this information to students. The best thing you can do is call the faulty or better yet go there and ask around.

As a rough guide repeats tend to run for the first 2 weeks of September and then the full time course begin.

lectures normally start - well in school of computing - in the third week in september and if my memory is what it used to be the induction day is the wednesday/thursday before that date.

can't remember if the lectures start the next day after induction i forget.

bit of an itinery for the induction day.

    1. they'll herd you into gleeson hall (assuming you're going to kevin street and doing computer course), they give you a timetable of the days events at the door. they'll give a talk about your course with school of computing head, school of maths head and your near future lecturers basically congradulating you getting this far and how your future starts here yadda yadda. they'll also talk you through your subjects - at this point at my induction day two people got up and left when they heard maths was part of the course - at what you can expect from dit.

    2. you'll have a break then in which you can explore the college facilities but don't expect to use the labs as you won't have login details and the network always seems to be down the first few days of college anyways

    3. after this break you're brought to a lecture hall (k-007 :D) and you're signed up to the DIT SU, you're also given a presentation on DITSU - if the projector works that is - given by the president of DITSU. you then get another break.

    4. after another break you'll be going to a lecturer room to fill in your registration forms and present your bank giro showing that you have paid.

    5. once you've handed this in they give you instructions to go to another room where a camera is set up to take your photo, look good as it will be your photo for 4 years (unless you know how to get a new one every year like me :D).

    6. that's it, you're now a DIT student, i think they let you go at this stage. you're then expected to get a timetable from the school of computing secatary which is on the third floor of the annex building, don't worry if you don't know how to get there Art Sloan's map will help you, in fact i still use mine :P.

LOL, did they not expect maths in a Computer course:rolleyes:
It appears maths is a first and second year subject by looking at the courses.

fees have to be paid before you register which you do on induction day.

think the fee was 800/850 last year.

That's just the registration fee... ...

LeoGilly, I'm going direct entry into the 4th year of Computer Science and I was told the fee will be around 2,200 Euro. You pay the 800 Euro reg. fee on top of that.
