    Hi,
Im thinking of trading my Highway 1 stat and vox valvetronix for a good marshall. What are peoples' opinions? Models to avoid etc?

    Cheers

All Marshall's are not created equal. Some are excellent amps, some less so.

You'd really need to narrow it down to get an accurate opinion tbh. It's one thing to ask for 'models to avoid' but before anyone does that, you should pin down exactly what you're looking for - power, channels, price, head/combo...etc.

I got a fantastic deal on a Marshall TSL 601 combo last week...I've played the 100Watt Head version of this amp for years and I loved it...the combo is possibly better....I only have it in my bedroom like but it's got some power in it...
My recommendation is a TSL....it's the most versatile amp I know of !!!

I love my tsl... it needs a kick up the arse sometimes, but still like it

I have a 6101. very Tslish and i know the TSLs pretty well. I would go for a tsl as they are going pretty cheap. If you can get a 6101 all the better. Midi Switching and a million modes etc

Well not alone do the Mg break they have horrid tone!

Honestly if you could push a Jvm410h and 2x12 cab you would be in heaven! It has possibly the best cleans a marshall has, Plexi cruch, Jcm800 od1 and Heavier more modern Jcm900 distortion! and then 4 modes on each channel! What more could you want!

    if not that dsl100 then!

Do not get a marshall that is not all valve beacause mgs are crap and atvs are mgs with a valve in it are overpriced because it says marshall on it.

    I have a 6101 (the blue series) that I don't really use.

If anyone is interested in it I would consider a trade.

The amp was heavily gigged though so it's not in great cosmetic condition.

I am in Cork if anyone wants to check it out.
