I have been browsing the web for days and I am getting more and more confused about the options open to me.

Please can anyone advice me on a 7 seater MPV or Jeep.

    Oldest 2005, not over 27,000euro

    Any help appreciated.

There is a bewildering array of choice in 7 seater cars now.

Which one to choose? It depends on a number of things.

!. Most important. Who will be the passengers? If the third row of seats is for very small people, then one of the mini-MPVs is a good choce. Pick one of the Toyota Corolla Verso, Open Zafira or Renault Grand Scenic. There might be something from KIA, I'm not well up on Korean cars. These cars are OK. They are not fast and can be got with a 1.6 litre engine. These cars will typically get 35 mpg

If you are likely to be carrying adults, or teenagers, in the rear seats then you need a full-sized MPV, something like Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan/Seat Alhambra (All three cars are identical, all uilt in the same factory and all are a VW design.) (The new model Galaxy is a new design and different from the VW and Seat cars. You could also look at something like the Toyota Avensis Verso or the Renault Espace, or the Peugeot 807 or Citroen C8. Get a petrol engined car and you'll be looking at 30 mpg, a diesel, up to 10 mpg more.

Downside of these cars is most are 1.9 litre or 2 litre, minimum. Also, look at any survey and this has to be the worst category of car for reliability.

I would not recommend a Kia Sedona. They have an old-design from Mercedes, for an engine, with a capacity of 2.9 litres. Very expensive to run for servicing an road tax.

As for a 7-seater 4x4? You will struggle to get a 2005 one for that money, with the exception of the Suzuki Grand Vitara XL7 which are not a good car. They're too small for 7, rear seat access is limited and they are hard on diesel. Other options bring you up to Land Rover Discovery and the like, all of which will cost a bomb in road tax, Insurance and fuel.

    My recommendations?

    Small MPV Corolla Verso
    Large MPV Avensis Verso

Look at the car by car breakdown tab and see what's good or bad about any car on the market.

    Seat Alhambra:

or, if you actually only need 6 seats:

and use the extra €10K to buy, tax and insure a nice MX5!!!
