Where to get recovery disk?

    Hello.

My mother's computer went bust a few weeks ago. It starts up but only goes so far and a blue screen comes up. I'm no expert with pc's but tried all the usual F10 reboots but to no avail. Anyways long story short, she needs the recovery disc for it. She brought it back to the shop twice where she bought it and they told her to go to techguys.com and recoverymedia and buy it from there but I tried that and can't find it.

Any of you know a good place to look for recovery disk's?

    P.S. It's a presario sr 1719 uk.

You probably won't be able to get a recovery disc for that machine only through the manufacturer or from techguys who do support for those machines(it says you have to call to order the recovery media as their site is down).

Cheers for that RUU. Not sure about ringing them, aren't they in Kansas? Filled in the online form anyway and said what I was looking for so hopefully they will get back to me. Just thought there might be some other sites on the web that these disks will be available on.

I think you have the wrong site, this is the right one. Techguys (used to be PC Service Call) do the support work that type of machine (I am assuming it was bought in one of the Dixons group of stores. They are in the UK.

You're a star, that looks more like it alright. Just looking through it I can't seem to find where to get recovery media.

Found it and the number to ring, thanks again.

Cheers for that tak. Finally got through to techguys and guess what, they don't do them anymore. Just looking at the gennersales website and they don't have any specific to the model I'm looking for: presario 1719 uk. Any idea if I would be looking for windows recovery cd or hard drive recovery cd??

    Hi there,
A really good place to look for this stuff is on Ebay. sometimes you can get one for your exact model and sometimes you'll get the windows xp recovery media which is just as good if not better. The recovery CD's are media with the image from when your computer left the factory. They don't include Service packs, patches, driver updates and usually come with a tonne of crap. grab one of the XP cd's to recover and the Serial number is still on your machine (as it is with all legit computers) which makes it perfectly legal.
