Excel Problem

When I click on an empty cell in a new worksheet and then move the mouse, any cells that the pointer moves over are selected. I cannot get rid of this selection or focus on any other element of the worksheet or the program, e.g. can't focus the toolbar, min, max, close. I have to right-click on Excel on the taskbar and close it.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

    Hi shayser,

I tried re-creating this issue but I cannot... I'm thinking it's either a hardware issue (Shift key damaged/blocked? Mouse left-click damaged/blocked?) or something to do with StickyKeys perhaps...?

Try rebooting your PC and using a different keyboard and mouse see if you still have the problem.

I have that problem form time to time (using a Kvm Switch) . i press the shift key 5 times quickly to bring up the sticky keys dialogue and cancel that . that usually fixes it for a few days

Thanks for the replies. It's looking increasingly like a software issue as it's "spreading" across the network. Had a good luck and it's not a virus.
