    Hi,

I am buying another laptop second hand soon from a friend of a friend. I have been told sevarl specs for the laptop and they sound very good. What checks can i do to make sure what am i told i am being sold is actually what i am being sold.

How do i check if there is actually 2.00 GHz, 4 MB L2 Cache, 800MHz FSB?

How do i check if it has 120GB harddrive?

How do i check if the graphics card is 511MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS?

What other checks should i do to check if the laptop is working properly?

Also when i get the laptop home should i clear the memory/hardrive, how do i do this?

Sorry for so many stupid questions,
    Tom

You can check all this information a number of ways. The best way to check it would be to run dxdiag.

Click on Start > Run > type dxdiag and press enter. This will bring up a list of all your system components.

Theres not much checks to see if the laptop is working properly, if it turns on then you've got a working laptop, if it doesnt turn on then youve just been screwed :)

I would suggest re-installing Windows, this will clear all the previous information from the hard drives and give you a fresh clean install to start with.
