I have an n73 with the latest firmware according to nokias software updater but ive recently been looking on another board and apparently the newest firmware is 4 not 3 and it has loads of nice improvments. Why wouldn't this be available here ?

Guys, If your fones have been purchased from a mobile Operator, they will have a product code attached to them. This allows the software updater to identify the handset that is requesting a firmware update. Unfortunately, The operators' branded firmware sometimes never gets updated.
The long and short of this is that you need to change the product code of your device to a Euro1 code using Nemesis Software Suite (NSS). After that, try hooking upto Nokia Software Update and your device will receive the latest update for that product code.
The process is easy to perform but you would need a stable broadband connection or else you could be left with an expensive paperweight!
Google is your friend. I actually wrote a tutorial on this method on another forum, but I don't think I can link to it!
