flashing wm5 rom after wm6 upgrade

    Hi.
    I got a htc p3600 running wm5.
I want to flash an unofficial wm6 rom from xda-developers to it (because as far as I can see there's no OFFICIAL wm6 rom for it).

Only problem is an official wm6 rom invalidates the 2yr warranty.
I really don't want to lose the warranty but I really would like wm6 (for minisdhc capability mainly tbh).

So is there anything I can do to keep the warranty.
e.g if I need to send the device for repair in future couldn't I just reflash a wm5 rom back on to the device again. How would htc know that I invalidated the warranty with an unofficial wm6 if wm5 is reflashed to it again.

And where would I get an official htc wm5 rom to do this?

Also if I brick the device with the wm6 upgrade surely the manufacturer will still offer support albeit for a price won't they?

Just wondering if anyone else here has faced the same dilemma and how they resolved it.

    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

I've owned many, many HTC devices and have flashed them numerous times, there should be no problem.

The original ROMs and WM6 ones are available here:

    Thanks for the link.
It's good to hear you've never had a problem but when you say this do you mean:

    1) HTC still honoured the warranty even with an unofficial rom on it.

    2) You've always re-flashed an official rom in the event of needing a repair and thus the warranty was honoured by HTC.

or 3) You've just been lucky and never needed support from HTC even though your warranty was invalidated.

TBH i'm not so concerned about bricking the device so much as losing the warranty.

Had to send a Vodafone V1605 (HTC Hermes/TyTN) back and flashed it with vodafone firmware before it went back

    Right, I get you.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately the htc site is next to useless at the moment- they're meant to provide the wm5 firmware that i'm currently using on my device but it's always inaccessible on the site. i suppose the official wm5 one over at xda devs is official enough so.
    thanks.
