Sorry if posted elsewhere or in the wrong spot.
CityJet, a subsidiary of the Air France airline, has confirmed that it will be having talks in the coming weeks with management at Shannon Airport with a view to introducing a new service between Shannon and Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

A spokesman for the company told RTÉ News it had been in talks over the weekend with the Transport Minister Noel Dempsey about the possibility of such a service.

CityJet will be having talks with the Shannon Airport Authority to see if the service would be economically viable.

Defence Minister Willie O'Dea has said he still believes the move could have 'potentially very serious consequences for the region,' regardless of what Transport Minister Noel Dempsey or Aer Lingus CEO Dermot Mannion had said.

In his first interview since Aer Lingus announced the decision, Mr O'Dea also said he believed that it was not too late to persuade the airline to retain the service.

The Mayor of Shannon has described efforts to get CityJet to operate a new service between Shannon and Paris as a 'smokescreen' to distract attention from the crisis at Shannon Airport.

Councillor Sean McLoughlin said it would be 'a totally inadequate substitution' for the Shannon-Heathrow flights.
