Nice, clean, the boats are not "touching" each other, I like it.
Well, I don't like it, because it is too big for my screen :D

That's what I can't say, because I am lying in my bed and I'm too laze to connect the laptop tho the CRT.

I really like the lighting on the land in the background there, and the boats tilted over really gives a sense of movement. But the white bits of the clouds aren't white, they are grey, and it does make it a bit duller overall. You've got a gorgeous sky to show there, don't miss out on it :)

It does lack that wee kick, I was thinking that myself before but I put it up.
I'll see what i can do.

Any tips to get the clouds just right?

Are you using global adjustments? Masking, possibly luminosity masking, might be your answer: http://www.goodlight.us/writing/luminositymasks/luminositymasks-1.html

I like the sparkle you're getting in the second version - however I'm looking at it on a laptop monitor in a bright room, bad combo :(

Lovely shot but #2 is overprocessed to me - the treatment brings out the detail but also flattens the image. I'd be inclined to play with the channel mixer to see whether a different mix of red/blue brought out more contrast.

Incidentally if you know where those yachts were sailing from you might get in touch with the owners to see if they'd be interested in a print. IRL 566 in particular might like a shot showing them nicely placed coming up to the windward mark :)

I was finding it hard to get the most out of the sky without it effecting the rest of the picture. I'm away from my computer for this week again, so i'll have a crack at it again during the weekend.

I have some information on the ones that were sailing in the photo. I tried to do a few prints on Sunday night, but i nearly ended up pulling out my hair because i still have to set my new printer up correctly. (But thats another story and one to stick on my to-do list for the weekend).

    Thanks for C&C guys.

Aaaaargh, don't touch the channel mixer!

Use any method of desaturating in a layer and behind that, use a selective colour layer to change the tonality of the different colours. The black & white layer does the same thing in one shot in CS3, if you have it. Or, do the guy gowan thing and use the calculations method.

I'd like to see the colour original, part of me thinks you've got some cracking colours in the water/landscape/sky and the image may work better as colour rather than B&W.

I'll upload them at the weekend so you can have a look.
