On Saturday I duffed at least half a dozen chips. This has been going on for weeks now. Can anyone personally recommend a coach who specializes in the short game (apart from Dave Pelz)?

Check out Seve's short-game video. You'll get it on ebay cheap enough.

In Ireland, for amateurs, you're not really going to find a 'specialist short-game coadch'. A good general coach will be a good short gamr coach given that it's the experience, personality and ability to impart instructions that makes a good coach at club level. They're all well aware of the technical ins and outs.

If you're anywhere near Rathsallagh I'd say Brendan McDaid is your man. Class coach and great facilities there for short and long game. Zak Rouillez in Beech Park is good and probably less expensive than McDaid.

Basically, the only thing to really avoid is going to a driving range pro given the usual lack of good facilities for working on short game and they probably don't give all that many short game lessons.

Is Simon Byrne still in Hermitage? If so he's good and they have good practice greens there. Years ago I played with an ideal guy who I can't remember his name unfortunately! Think it was something like Tom Hegarty or something. He was pro in Black Bush or somewhere out that way. Big fella who hit the ball quite short but had a demon short game. He was taught (in some way) by short game legend, Dave Stockton and my did it show! Some mad ideas like pointing your right toe towards the target when chipping which ensured all the weight was shifted to your left. Nice guy. Maybe someone will read this and know who I'm talking about.

I play out of Lucan so Simon Byrne may be an option alright. I'll give them a bell tomorrow. Cheers.
