My thoughts

I admit - I was slightly tempted by the new iMac. Just to get rid of the white. I don't like the white.
But after reading initial reviews of the new iMac, it looks more like a lazy Ives hangover, or a legal formalty for Apple. Which ever costs less.

But what the hell is which the glossy screens?
Why can't they just give us a choice?
Glass: breakable, and horrible since we've seen the back of CRT.
Why are Apple going against the rest of the industry and reverting back to glass?

Also, my suggestion for future Apple project:
A f**king backlit keyboard. LEDs. How hard is it, really?

Am I the only person who see the interior of the building that the iMac is in before I see the iMac itself? (and the person in the background(!)

ya i dont like the glossy screens either, things do look more vivid but as you said you also see every other fúcking thing around you,
maybe its an antitheft thing, you can see a potential thief coming behind you.

also i like to keep my display brightness down as it tires my eyes when its up high, thats not an option if the world is reflecting into your eyes, you have to keep it high.:(

Having glossy obn my MacBook I don't find it a big issue, however anytime I've brought it with me into work I've hardly been able to see the screen due to overhead lighting and skylights.

I think they should be giving customers a choice with this as glossy is just not suitable for most working enviroments.

The glass I could live with, in fairness what are the chances of you breaking it :)

Haven't actually seen the glass yet although I have seen the MacBook shiney screen and have to agree about the reflections and finger smudges.

My worry about having a glass plate in front of the screen is that it means there's a gap there where some annoying bit of dust or grit will get caught and annoy the sh1t out of you.

this glossy screen thing is a bit strange. Surely there should be an option. I recently got an mbp and went with the matte screen after seeing a glossy one and it's uber-reflective surface.
Don't know how people can use them.

I find the glossy screen on my macbook great... if you sit by a window with a matte screen you'll get a reflection too...

It's 27% for personal purchases and 17% for family and friends.

If Apple ever move to Dublin, I'll be first in the queue for jobs. Moving to Cork is a step too far for me!

Moving to Cork is a step too far for most sane people.
