    Hi folks,
I've started an online petition to ask Aer Lingus to retain the Shannon - Heathrow link. If you could sign it and pass the word on...
    Retain the Shannon Heathrow link

    Thanks.
    Ray

The Mayor of Shannon Cllr Seán McLoughlin is asking you to support this walk.

Organized by the Shannon action group The battle to retain the Shannon London link is only just beginning.

There will be a solidarity walk this Friday evening, 17th August, at 7-00pm from the Drumline roundabout to the Ballymurtagh roundabout. The Drumline roundabout is located on the flyover at the off ramp of the main Limerick to Ennis road, which leads into Shannon and the Airport. The Ballymurtagh roundabout is located at the end of the dual carriageway at the interchange for Shannon Town Centre, the Airport and the turnoff for the Newmarket-on-Fergus road. We are asking anybody who wishes to show solidarity with the campaign to bring the necessary pressure to bear on both our government and the Aer Lingus management team to withdraw plans to cease the air link between Shannon and London Heathrow. The walk is about one mile in length and we will welcome people from all over who feel that they would like to do something positive to ensure our vital link with London Heathrow is maintained. We invite people of all ages from senior citizens to parents and children to demonstrate that the residents of the west of Ireland have the power to gather as one and walk shoulder to shoulder in a dignified and peaceful manner to overturn this commercial decision and hold onto our rite of passage to London Heathrow and thus the rest of the world.

If you would like to join us, the route to the start of the walk will be clearly signposted on the roads from both Limerick and Ennis. Parking will be available on the old Limerick to Newmarket road and marshals will be on hand to assist you. We look forward to welcoming you and thank you for your support.
