    Ladies and Gentlemen,

On behalf of myself and the wife ,
I would just like to say that’s its lovely to see all Fiona’s friends and family and all my friends and family here to help celebrate our special day. I would like to thank you all for coming especially all the people who have travelled far and wide to get here and to help make it such an enjoyable occasion. I hope you will all agree that it’s been a wonderful wedding so far and everyone played there part in making this a happy day for us, so now here’s my chance to lower the tone a bit. (only kidding).

When we were all getting ready this morning in the house my mum got all emotional and told me I looked like a Scottish king which I thought was lovely of her and quite fitting seen as I had been sitting on the throne for most of the morning.

    Joking aside for a minute.

I would like to thank Joe, Fiona’s dad for his kind words, and who is a super -dad as far as Fiona is concerned .When he walked her down the isle today I know he was bursting with pride but also sure that he must have felt some sadness at the thought of giving his little girl away. So let me take this opportunity to assure my new father-in-law that Fiona is as precious to me as she is to him, and I would also like to thank Fiona’s parents for the kindness that they have shown me from the first day I met them and for welcoming me into there family as they have. I would also like to take a moment to mention Andy who is Fiona’s brother and who sadly is no longer with us. I know that he would have been so proud of his sister today looking so radiant and joyful and I am sure he is watching over us today with happiness on her special day.

Pretty is a word! In fact more than that – beautiful is an even better word, and a lovely smile! Elegance and grace that everyone admires. And that’s just Philip her brother. Wait till I tell you about my wife.

I have to say that Fiona looks wonderful today, absolutely stunning. And the kids look great today, too. Wee Ben my brothers son and of course Ava our daughter. It must be a very exciting day for them. Most couples on their wedding day describe it as the happiest day of their lives. Well, not us. The happiest day of our lives was September 8th 2005, the day Fiona gave birth to our beautiful daughter Ava, and typical of Fiona and me not to do things in the right order. No patience, that’s our trouble. But today does run a close second to that day.

For all who have helped and assisted in the preparation of the church, the flowers, the tables, the food, the dresses, the suits, and everything relating to the success of the Day – a big thank you! And especially to Theresa who helped Fiona a lot, and also to the Muckross park for preparing the room so well. I would also like to thank Father Jimmy who delivered a cracking service today. I’d like to ask you all to join me in a toast to my wife, as without her constant hard work over several months, today would not have gone nearly as well as it has.So if you all would please be upstanding………….The Wife.

I must thank my own parents for their contribution to today’s festivities and for teaching me the difference between right and wrong, My own parents of course are tremendous. They fed me and housed me and tried to teach me manners. In fact you could say they did all the things decent parents do. I don't think they ever felt they were having great job satisfaction but I want to tell them they must have done something right or else Fiona would not have agreed to marry me and I thank them for that.

I will take this opportunity to thank you all for your generous gifts. We really are grateful for everything we have received from everyone.

I first met Fiona at a club in Dublin and she was the prettiest thing on the dance floor. I can see her now, lying there, all bleary eyed looking for someone to help her up, and here we are today.

Before I finish with the toasts to the beautiful bridesmaids I would like to go through my groomsmen first, and they are Philip the one with the elegance and grace and who everyone admires,
Then there is Colin a great friend of mine for the best part of 18 years. He has been a tower of strength throughout the proceedings. I can’t get over how well he has scrubbed up. Any of you that know Colin will know that he usually looks as if he’s been getting dressed in front of an airplane propeller. Mind you, I'll say one thing for him, he always has a bath once a week … whether he needs it or not.

Then there is my big brother Scott who is a really guy good and he is definitely in high spirits as he became a millionaire last Friday. He didn’t win the lottery though– he just took his empty vodka bottles back to the off-licence.

Oh yeah and I would like to thank the ushers for ehhhh…………..ushering.

As for the bridesmaids, what can I say except they look beautiful and have been great throughout all the preparations. I’d like them to accept these small offerings which we will give them later with our love. They deserve a drink so, ladies and gentlemen, please be upstanding. I give you Maria, Cathy and Lauren, the bridesmaids.

Ok folks well that’s me finished and it just leaves me saying a massive thank you to everyone for being here and to please carry on enjoying yourselves after the speeches and toasts. I am going to hand you over now to my best man, and I would like to mention the fact that when whichever one or 2 or 3 of these guys say anything about me its easy to tell when they are lying cause you will see there lips moving.

Ok, just going to take it literally that this is what ur going to say. First off, i would not refer to your new bride as THE WIFE.... my beautiful new wife or something, but THE WIFE...defo not. Secondly, should they not be OUR friends, you are referring to people as her friends and your friends. Like her friends are not your friends and vice versa!!
Loved the gag about the throne, very good.
A super dad 'as far as we both are concerned' maybe...comes across Fiona thinks he is super...you dont :)
The next paragraph 'pretty is the word'. I am not getting this at all...just seems to be thrown in.
I wouldnt say that your wedding day isnt the happiest of ur life...i know what u mean, but maybe say its on par or something. Just seems like everyone is there to share ur special day and then u say 'well, actually today isnt the happiest day of our lives'...you with me?
Love the gag about picking her up off the floor, laughed out loud on that!
You should slip in a last paragraph about how beautiful Fiona looks, how lucky you feel to have met her, and how today she made you the happiest man alive...might sound corney but when u read back over ur speech there isnt much reference really to Fiona and how beautiful she is and how happy you are.

Thats my tuppance worth anyway :D

I would just like to say that’s its great to see all our friends and family here to help celebrate our special day. I would like to thank you all for coming and especially all the people who have travelled from overseas such as America, Spain, England and god’s country AKA Scotland to help make this such an enjoyable occasion. I hope you will all agree that it’s been a wonderful wedding so far and everyone played there part in making this a happy day for us, so now here’s my chance to lower the tone a bit. (only kidding).

I have to say that Fiona looks wonderful today, absolutely stunning.… and the nice thing is she’s as perfect on the inside as she is on the outside. Fiona is also someone who is absolutely fantastic and who deserves a good husband. I just hope she’ll find me a satisfactory alternative. And the kids Ben my brothers son and our daughter Ava look great today, too. A couples wedding day is a joyous occasion shared between family and friends, and it reminds me of the happiness Fiona and I felt on the best day of our lives, the day our beautiful daughter Ava was born, it is also very special to be able to share and enjoy our wedding day with Ava by our side, even if the order of events isn't very traditional. No patience, that’s our trouble.

And especially to Theresa who helped Fiona a lot, and also to the Muckross park for preparing the room so well. I would also like to thank Father Jimmy who delivered a cracking service today and for whom travelled the length of the country to perform the service, we thank you again. I’d like to ask you all to join me in a toast to my wife, as without her constant hard work over several months, today would not have gone nearly as well as it has. i like your speech, none of that drivel cut and pasted from "wedding speech" websites which i personally can't stand. your sincerity shines through.
