Don't bother with garden Furniture in Wilton, nothing but plastic tables. Tools and BBQs are there aplenty all the same, hoses etc.

How much off the normal price is that? Is it half price?

Gonna head down about 4. Hopefully they will still have some. Pick up quite a few of them at that price.

think the pint bottles go for about 2.60 /2.70 in tesco normally.

British Bulmers not the same thing as Magners, although its marketed to look very similar, to try and catch on the popularity of Magners in the UK. It's nice though, got a tarter flavour, not as sweet as Irish Bulmers (or Magners as called in UK).

Tis a good deal, poor sales this summer definitely the reason!!

A friend and I just cleared out Wilton in cork, we bought 120 each. Unbelievable offer. Its the proper irish bulmers but just has the magners label. Rang the other tescos in cork and they are all out. They said they might have more in two weeks. Might to a restock then:D

120 bottles for €180 cant go wrong with that. Wont be going to the pub for a few months. All we need now is the wheather:p

I beleive this is the way it will be going for Bulmers. Magners brand is now almost as well known in Ireland, and a friend of mine in Advertising said they are merging the two very, very shortly (as Magners)..

Ironicly, Magner was the name of the Tipperary man who founded the company, whereas Bulmers is an English name..

    Anyway, bye bye Bulmers

The Sligo store is definitely doing it... they've been at the top of the booze aisle advertising this last Tuesday.

slightly OT but Bulmers (Ireland) licensed the name off the English company HP Bulmer (makers of Strongbow and other ciders) back in the day, hence they only own the name in Ireland. Magners is named after the original owner of the Irish company.

C&C (owners of Bulmers Ireland) actually tried to buy HP Bulmer a few years ago but the deal fell through. Since the success of Magners in the UK, HP Bulmer have relaunched their version of Bulmers there with a very similar marketing campaign. I wouldn't be surprised if Bulmers in Ireland is eventually rebranded to Magners to end the confusion.

I know for a fact that Bulmers/C&C had been rationing Tesco and other stores last year as they couldn't keep up with demand. Tescos were forced to go through a third party to get it on their shelves.

Looks like they're still doing it (as they wouldn't be allowed by Bulmers to sell the Magners brand in the 26) and have been left with a lake of stock due to the 'summer' weather.

Ya she was actually, then a manager came along and opened up a closed till especially for us. She also brought out 10 boxes of it out from the store room so we didnt have to fill another trolley full of 120 bottles.

Just after testing a few of them, and they taste better when they are half price

It only came into clondalkin this morning,i picked up 4 box's at half eight and was just back down there now and got another box and they still have 5+ unopened box's there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,209 ✭✭✭✭JohnCleary

    WARNING!

Went into Tesco earlier today and spotted 3 box's of the stuff left. I thought I was in for a winner. Went to the checkout with a box and they tried to charge me €2.99 per bottle eventhough I asked the checkout guy before he scanned them 'Are these 2 for €3' and he said 'Yes'. Then he scanned them, said there was a problem, got the manager or whoever and he mentioned that it was a '3 day offer only' and was now finished.

    I walked away :(
