AM looking to get a VW tool for the drain plug on a passat gear box.
It's an 16 mm XZN bit with a hole... tamper resistant type thing.

    Any good tool shops

As Fey! said, a decent motor factor should have or be easily able to get such a thing.

IIRC I got one from McQuillans in Blanch. That was about a year ago when I swapped gearboxes out of our passat so my memory could be a bit shaky.

failing that im sure otto.ie might have what you need.

They'll get you anything you need. Just email them if it's not up on their shop. Very good customer service.

    Thanks,

McQuillans in blanch is in the west-end retail park, just in front of KFC and beside Next ( its facing the new "red-mall" extension to the centre )... they've got a fairly good selection of stuff i've bought toques/spline/hex bit set off them a few months back for about €15...

As far as i know OTTO is in finglas with the main warehouse in Tallagh..

McQuillans is on the east side of Blanch Centre near Lidl. But it is not a great shop for sockets, bits etc. You might have more luck in Halfords which is right next door to it, they actually have a good selection of tools for automotive use.

Halfords or Mquillan don't do it.
    Any other ideas?
Or would someone loan me the bit? :) 16mm XZN - tamper proof.
