    The Thing
    Hellraiser
    Poltergeist
    Tale of 2 sisters
    Switchblade romance
    Them
Ring(american and original and all sequels + prequels)
    Dark Water(both)
    1408
    Cube
    Event Horizon
    Aliens(all)
    Vacancy

God it is hard to remember everything i have seen.... :o

    The Eye(all)
    28 days + weeks later

Right for some reason i cant think of any more but has anyone got any films that really scared them?

    Cheers

the evil dead 1 & 2 - not only great examples of early 80's horror filcks, but also dead funny and a real leason on how to film on next to no budget (listen to the commentaries by sam raimi and bruce campbell on the dvd)

of course the shining, psycho and the blair witch project for sheer chills.

The Devil's Backbone? Mexican/Spanish co-production, and it's set in Spain.

    Very well recommended though. ;)

Has anyone seen a film called 'The Descent'?

Scared the bejesus outta me - it's about a group of women who go caving in the english countryside, low budget stuff but very effective

The Descent was a very well made movie. One of those rare things nowadays- a smart horror.

Here, Here!! One of my favourite movies and strangely I seem to be the only one in my town who has ever heard of it  (I actually watched it again for the trillionth time last night, never get bored of it!)

I recommend for sheer horror................All the Police Academys bar the 1st one, they'll make you wretch so much you'll be vomiting your own poo outta your mouth!!

I can't believe nobody has mentioned any of Romero's classics "...The Dead" series. Highly recommended, chum!

    The Omen
    Braindead
    Re-Animator
    The Texas Chainsaw Masacare
    EraserHead
    Nightmare on Elm Street
Hitchcock's horror movies: The Birds, Psycho, etc
    Last house On The Left
The Wicker Man (The original, puh-lease!)
    Child's Play 1
    Friday The 13th
    The Beyond
Robocop (It's generally listed as Horror)
    Cannibal Holocaust
    Driller Killer
    Amityville Horror (original)

That's all I can think of now, there's also all of the old Hammer Horror movies too you should look up. Good ol' Christopher Lee...........the sick bastard!

u must be the first carpenter fan who likes GoM! I didnt like it at all.

Actually "they live" is deffo worth a look. Its not a scary horror film, but its damn entertaining. Especially the 20 minute fight scene in the middle! Rowdy roddy piper FTW!

session 9 is a good scary movie, more suspense than blood and gore

Since you've seen Cube, I would recommend Cube 2.

    Also,

The Wicker Man (Original - Avoid the remake at all costs)
    The Shining
    A Nightmare On Elm Street
    Cujo
    Carrie
Kalifornia (Possibly Brad Pitt's best movie)
    Flowers In The Attic
    Arlington Road
    The Good Son
The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
Snakes On A Plane (Frickin' Hilarious, although more of a Thriller than a horror)

Try Deathwatch, and Cabin Fever too.

Ok so i watched the Devils Backbone. Good film but wasnt really that scary. I jumped once i think. I probably should have been more specific in what recommendations i wanted. Slasher films and zombie films were not really what im looking for. I was just trying to find some really scary films.

Thought the Thing was alright. I would never consider myself a movie critic but i found something weird with the editing of that film. They seemed to jump forward in time quite a lot which i thought kinda ruined a lot of the suspense instead of really letting it build.

I seen someone recommended cube 2. I really liked the original cube but this one was terrible. Watched that last week on sky. God it was so bad it was funny. There were so many stupid things in that film eg the guy and his knife/crazy old lady

Oh and i loved the descent. Thought that was really scary.

In that sense...I think the scariest thing that I've seen in some time is the opening scene in 28 Weeks Later.

Event horizon had it's moments ! The whole eye thing was a bit stomach churning.

I agree with you with about 28 weeks later. That is a great opening scene.

'Phantasm' series - weird stuff from early eighties and into nineties

Just after watching Dead Silence and really enjoying it. It's from James Wan and Leigh Whannel who were responsiable for the first Saw and the upcoming Kevin Bacon film Death Sentence.

I haven't been as creeped out by a film in a long time. It's has more in common with the atmospheric horror films of old than the current trend of gore films.

Not a slasher gore fan myself although '...Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Wolf Creek' ( on Net 2 Fri ) had their moments.
I'd have to say there were a few that made me look away at times. Pet Cemetary was one ( the creepy sister) and a very old 60's black and white thingy called 'Buried Alive' I think it was made for TV but J***** it was creepy. Anyone remember it?
I'd have to agree with sentiments re 'Ghosts of Mars' I watched 5 mins ( that was enough believe me) of it on TV a few weeks back has to rate as one of the worst movies ever made.
