Media Center EPG is out of date for Chorus Digital

    Hi,

I'm in Kildare - I've just connected my new media PC up to my Chorus Digital box (scart cable to s-video). However, when I download the programming guide for Chorus Digital, it's the old numbering scheme and the old program guide (1 for RTE 1 instead of 101, Nickelodeon and Paramount Comedy on the same channel instead of seperate ones, no Film Four...).

I've manually edited the channel numbers in the Media Center, but the guide still doesn't work for the newly seperated channels (e.g. Paramount) or for brand new channels like Film Four?

Anyone else encounter this? Anyone find a way to fix it?

    Thanks.

    Never mind. Figured it out.

As Chorus & NTL are now UPC, Chorus Digital has adopted NTL Digital's EPG. So I just need to select NTL Digital as the TV provider in the Media Center, and then weed out the programs that Chorus doesn't have (like More4+1 or MTV 2...).

mccannf, just wondering how you are getting on with the Media Centre. I assume it's MCE or VMC? Are you using the media centre then to automatically change the channels on the decoder for watching and recording?

    Hi there ebowdia,

I've really only got it working today :)

I'm using a Hauppauge PVR-150 card with an IR blaster to the Chorus Sagem box. I'm using Vista MC which I'm quite impressed with so far. It changes the channels without a problem, and all the guide information looks correct (when I made the change mentioned above). I connected the sagem box (Scart & digital audio plug) into the hauppauge card (s-video & left/right audio connections) and it all works. As part of the Vista MC set up, it asks you to point the Chorus remote at it's IR receiver, and after a few keystrokes it recognises the remote and can blast all the commands to the Chorus box.
You can then download the EPG for NTL Digital (or Chorus Analog channels) and away you go....

    Some gripes:
When you hit "channel up" or "channel down", Vista MC types out the channel number each time, so you can't quickly surf through channels. Maybe there's a way around this, but I haven't found it.
Sometimes Vista gets confused and says that the "tuner" (the chorus box) is busy - but that isn't too frequent.

I'm going to test out recording programs and scheduling recordings today or tomorrow....

Excellent stuff mccannf, thanks for the reply.

What you have setup is exactly what I'm in the process of doing - with Vista MC controlling an external decoder - just wanted to hear from someone who had actually successfully done it! It seems fairly straight forward - I look forward to giving it a lash when I get my decoder then ;)
