Anyone have or used the allergy model before? Thinking of getting it if it will help with my allergies? Any good deals going?

I have the DC20 Animal. It's a bloody great yoke to play with, it makes me look forward to hoovering ! First time we used it in rooms with carpet really was an eye opener, the amount of hairs trapped in it that the previous vacumn didn't pick up was shocking.

Dyson were offering up to €150 on some of their products a couple of weeks ago which they could still be doing, I know DID and Powercity were doing it. Basically you trade in your old hoover and depending on the model you buy, you get between €50 and €150 or something like that off.

I have the (much!) older DC05 Allergy - found it good, but it's hard to tell how much difference it makes, this is the only vacumn we're had in our house so I've no source of comparision....

Just to note, ours has washable lifetime filters which need a wash every six months...

My parents have a DC08 and it's like a 737 taking off every time they use it. The parts seem very flimsy, a couple of things have broken on it, including the plastic on the metal tube which meant they had to get a new one, which was about €50 I think. Parts are only available from a place in Killester and the guy there said Dyson replacement parts are about double the cost of other brands.

I've no experience of the older models but the new ones are quiet sturdy, the body is made of the same stuff crash helmets are made off so as long as long as you don't go throwing it off the stairs and with the 5 year guarantee I'd say you'd be ok.
